2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Papsoe (25131) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUL 24, 2012
Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of Countbeer. Pours an opaque black with a thick and creamy light brown head leaving some lacework. Thick and vicious iodine aroma from the peated barrel atop the roasted malts. Rich body, heavy roast, ashtray and again a shitload of nasty iodine and tar. Roasty bitter finish. Another beer that didn’t convince me of the greatness of peated beers. To me it’s really just ruining a great base beer. 240712

Bottled@PBF2012. Pitch black colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is peated malts, some smoke as well as mild liquorice and mild herbal notes. Flavour is liquorice, peat and some mild smoked notes. Very balanced and nice mellow Ardbeg flavours (Though the Ardbeg notes are very evident).
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 omhper (17458) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JUL 28, 2012
Bottled at PBF. Black, small beige head. Huge peaty whisky aroma. Sweet and dense, really full bodied. Tar and licorice, loads of Ardbeg whisky. The whisky character is absolutely overwhelming, if it wouldn’t have been Ardbeg it would have been awkward. Now it’s like drinking an Ardbeg diluted in licorice, whish is not a bad thing.
