33 cL bottle. Pours pitch black with a small to no head. Aroma is tarish and burne dark malty. Sweet malty, tarish and dark roasted malty flavoured. Dry and roasted malty finish, lasting tarish note.

On draft at Churchkey in D.C. The beer is black with a thin beige head. The aroma brings a grandiose serving of Ardbeg. For you single malt scotch aficionados, especially those who favor those great whiskeys from Islay, you will likely enjoy this. Those less inclined to sip a peaty scotch on a rainy night may find this offering harsh and offensive. The flavor offers notes of chocolate, oak, vanilla, peat, smoke. A young Ardbeg character really dominates every aspect of the beer. Some searing alcohol heat in the finish with lingering sea salt and maritime character, medium to full bodied, fairly viscous. I really enjoyed this, though this is certainly not for everybody.

Bottle from jmgreenuk - thanks John! Whoa - totally different flavour to the Wild Turkey version, but hey, I guess that’s the point eh? Duh. Dry, full of whiskey vapours like the boozy whiskey experiences of my misspent youth. Papery, inflammable quality. Slightly less beige head than the Wild Turkey. Antiseptic scent.

UPDATED: MAY 2, 2015 Keg at Arendsnest, 28th March 14. Black, nose is whiskey, some peat, a little smoke. Taste is whiskey, lots of peat, bitter, lingering finish. Too much peat for my taste, over powered the other elements I like, such as liquorice and leather, still an enjoyable drink

UPDATED: JUN 18, 2016 Drank in Tilburg 08-07-2014. Good beer. Hardly any carbonation. Smells like oak/roasted and smoke (strong smoke). Different BA taste than normal, hardly any sweetness or bourbon hints. Very complex taste of dark chocolate, coffee, slightly roasted, smoke and a lot of other flavors that I can’t name very good. Nice. Same rating after the 19/02 tasting with Bram. A bit lower after drinking with Patrick at my place 17-6-2016. A bit one-dimensional, too peated.

In brand bulb glass, pours pure black without any real head till the last bubbles float up. Smell immediately remembers you what’s on the label: the smell of peaty Ardbeg whisky combined with some sweeter notes. Tastes sweet, ending in a very long bitter finish. Aroma’s of dark chocolate mixed with whisky and some hint of peaty smoke and wood. Very light carbonisation. This makes he hunger for Ardbeg as a desert. :) Best of whisky and stout.

UPDATED: APR 3, 2015 Pours black, tiny, beige-to-brown head. Aroma is EXTREMELY peaty and smoky, hints of dark malts. Taste is dominated by peated whisky notes balanced by a fair amount of sweetness. Some hints of dark fruit and caramel, but it definitely is one smoky monster. Great, bold and complex stout.
