33cl bottle @ tasting with Joes and Dutchdrebus. Courtesy of Dutchdrebus. Pitch black color, no head, no lacing. Smell moderately malty, lightly chocolate, hints of grapes, hints of raisin, hints of plum, port, slightly alcohol. Taste malts, moderate to heavy bitter, lightly alcohol, hint of chocolate, whisky and only lightly peat. Perfect balance! Long finish, medium to full body, soft carbonation.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 dreadnord (1009) - San Diego, California, USA - MAR 13, 2012
Pours black and looks a bit thin. No head whatsoever. Air bubbles is all I got from a very vigorous pour. Nose is heavy peat scotch smoke. hard to smell anything else through the smoke but I am getting a hint of apple or pear. Taste is sweet and mildly bitter throughout until the end when the smoke hits and leaves a long bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel is creamy and smooth. I’m not a big smoked beer fan but I am starting to like them more and more thanks to this kind of beer. It’s a good one.

Bottle from Ober. It pours very dark mahogany with tan like head of foam. The aroma is full and rich as it pulls up some band-aid and car tire store but also a mild level of chocolate and dark roasted malts in the background. The taste is similar with a mix of rich chocolate and dark roasted malts and then running quickly into band-aid and some mild smokiness. It ends with lingering chocolate goodness and thin rings of dark roasted malts that help urge you on to take another sip.
