Beige hea, as soon gone as formed over liquid that looks like ink for all the world. Liquorice, black cardemom peel, dry coffee, hints at peat and fusels. More whisky in the flavour, quite dry initially but with a sweeter sequel. Again liquorice, wood, mushrooms. Retronasal the fusels, the benzene-like aromas come out in force, whilst the ethanol strengthens the sweetness. Velvety MF, but the fiery throatwarming reveals the alcohol. Too light to be viscous, but oily at least. A very nice sipping beer, but somehow, the 75cl botlle seems a rather daunting prospect. I put an evening to it... I liked the fine peat aroma especially.

Cask Stillage at the GBBF, Earl’s Court 04/08/2010 Some whisky aroma. Black strong in alcohol very smooth and a little sweet on the palate. Hoppy with a hint of dryness in a coffee roast and whisky finish.

Cask gravity at GBBF ’10. Very dark brown, near black. Sweet aroma. Immensely sweet whisky taste. That’s it. Good, but you wouldn’t want the other half before next Christmas.

Chocolate and wood aroma. Black-brown in color with a hint of off-white head. Sweet, chocolatey with a bit of apple and wood; a touch of warmth on the finish as well as a bit of smoke in there as well. Notes: On Cask at the GBBF ’10

From cask. Pours dark brown to black with a fully gone head. Aroma is dark malty, wooden, fruity and dry phenolic note. Lasting roasted malt and smoked. Slight tarish from back of the tongue. Lasting fruity note. The smoked notes stay persistingly into the far finish. Nice.
