Nice barrel aged IRS. Has the typical strong roasted coffee taste and the whiskey notes. Not as mindblowing and complex as the first series of white labels though.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
7/07/2011: Emelisse Imperial Russian Stout (matured in oak for two months)... Aroma: Sugary vanilla, white chocolate, Appearance: Near black color with a definite purple hue; brown-colored crown; totally opaque. Flavor: heavily caramelized malt with a balanced amount of dark chocolate; green, leafy hops and associated moderate bitterness cuts through the malty sweetness; understated roasted coffee beans; lots of warming alcohol; dry and a touch chalky; a good dry, herbal bitterness sticks in the throat; caramelized licorice and tobacco flavors in the aftertaste. Palate: Medium to medium-full; average carbonation (maybe too much for the style for my liking), foamy in the mouth; fairly smooth; gets better as it breathes. Overall: Definitely a more traditional Russian Imperial Stout; really nice representation of the old world style; I like it!
10.14 fl. oz. bottle (11% alc./vol.; Tenminste houdbaar tot einde 12; Lot B). Rating #86 for this beer.

Overwhelming. On itís own a fantastic stout but the aging in Bowmore barrels makes this an extra treat. Real creamy, coffee and chocolate like taste, with that sharp edge of the whisky. Fantastic!

Jet black colour, tan head. Aroma of smoke, chocolate, caramel, coffee and whisky. Flavour sweet whisky, peat, smoke and bitter roasted malts. Touch of liquorice (drop). Lingering bitter finish, some ash. This newest batch is again a great brew!

parallel with the Bunnahabhain version
Black color, with medium sized difficult brownish creamy head. The aroma is mild, light roasted malts and chocolate, very light alcohol. Full bodied; the mouthfeel is very smooth; very good chocolate flavor, some dark caramel, light coffee, pleasant liquorice component, moderate sweetness, light dusty feeling, with correct bitterness, and alcohol warmth.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
An unlabelled bottle from the brewery during the RBESG 2013 weekend. Poured a deep mahogany with an oily texture and a frothy tan head. The aroma is rich earthy peat. The flavour is rich oily creamy bitter and alcoholic with loads of roasted malt, liqourice and chocolate. The oak and whisky sit subtly there on the back of the palate and linger forever in the finish. A master beer!
