Keg at Express de Lyon, 16th April 14. Follows a Mikkeller I Hardcore you, good evening. This one is heavy peat on the aroma, and some whiskey. Taste is quite whiskey and peat forward, but this still retains the impy characteristics, got better as it warmed and I really enjoyed this. Lovely again from emelisse, but you need to appreciate the peaty whiskey notes on this

Aroma of roasted malts, peat, oak, coffee, charred wood, whiskey. Flavour is sweet and smokey, roasty and peaty. Body is thick and mouthfeel is sticky. Wonderfully intense like most other Emelisse White Label brews.

Bottle from Belgium. Thick, thick, thick oily black pour with a creamy brown foam that lags 3 seconds after the end of the pour it takes so much time for the carbonation to surface. Aroma is really peaty, iodine, smoky with rich dark chocolate aromas as well. Taste is sweet, saline, strong smoky finish, lots of peat, dark chocolate and molasses. Palate is perfect, so thick, not cloying, just enough carbonation and just warm enough alcohol finish. Not a big fan of these Islay scotch barrel aged stouts but this one was well done.

Taste smoke, peat, caramel vanilla sweet, roasted coffee bitter.
Mouthfeel thick oily.
Amazing beer, the smoke, sweetness and bitter are well balanced.

Dark black oily appearance. Smokey, peaty whiskey aromas dominate. In the flavour the bittersweet dark roast malt is evident along with the earthy peat. Smooth, rich finish. Quite boozy.

Bottle thanks to MrH! Pours opaque black with a small secondary brown creamy head that dissipates as slowly as it forms leaving nice lacing. Aroma is peat, roasty, chocolate, scotch. Flavor is super peaty, smokey, scotch, light sweet and medium bitter. Fullish body, creamy mouthfeel. You need to be a scotch lover to like this one!

Bottle 330 ml at home, into a snifter. ABV 11% Black colour on the body, a thin line of brown foam as head, along with big bubbles. Okay retention nevertheless, light lacing left on the glass. Lots of roasted malts on the aroma, coffee, light vanilla, light alcohol. Taste follows the nose, lots of roasted malts, vanilla, whiskey, coffee, the alcohol there but very subtle. Mildly bitterness on the aftertaste. Full body but I find it just a tiny bit thinier than other versions I’ve had. The carbonation very good as usual. Another very good one on this White Label IRS series.
