Bottle, thanks to MrHangover!
Black with a porous light brown head.
Quite light aroma with fruity whisky, some alcohol.
Taste: whisky, red berries like rowan berries, chocolate, light licorice, sourish like hard lemon candies, dry finish.
Full-bodied.
Unbalanced, but quite nice. It might do well with some aging.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 erickok (2282) - Tours, FRANCE - JUL 30, 2012
A very dark black body and creamy tan head. Rich matly aroma, milk chocolate, bourbon, sticky fruit and some alcohol. Rich taste, but the barrel aging makes it a bit thin. Bit milky mouthfeel. Sweaty overall feel. Alcoholic aftertaste. A very good base beer but the barrel aging doesn’t improve it for me. (33cl bottle)

0.33 L bottle. Pours a ruby-edged near black body. A few beige fish-eyes on top only. Sweet alcohol-soaked dark dried fruits to the nose. Some rounded barrel notes too, and a whiff of licorice and whisky liqueur. Almost no carbonation. More than medium full. Chewy texture. Sweet-flavored with well roasted and rounded dark malts. Lots of whisky flavor, light barrel notes, and a good deal of dark dried fruits. Notes of licorice and coffee/chocolate. ’’Easy drinking’’ for such a big beer. Nice all over!

Flavor is sweet and bitter, dark malt, whisky, coffee, dry fruit and warming alcohol. The whisky is clearly represented but not overwhelming. Full body and long aftertaste. Nice one.

Pours a dark brown, almost black colour with a small foamy head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, salty licorice and cream. Flavour of roasted malts, strong salty licorice, caramel, wood and minerals. Full bodied, thick mouthfeel and a long, dry, salty, roasty finish. Not much flavours from the barrel. Strong saltiness is still present as on the original Emelisse IRS.
