No head, viscously pouring oil-black beer. Sweetish smelling, chocolate nose; roasted, nutty touches and a - difficultly qualifyable - spirit aroma. Chocolate, coffee, and a massive spirit/whisky presence. Roastiness held in check, alcoholburn not! Black chocolate-covered dried fruits as raisins, plums or apricots. Very thick & viscous, long-lasting rroasted-sweetish flavours. What a warmth! Many thanks to Kees!

UPDATED: OCT 12, 2012 Draft @ acbf. Aroma is huge roast, smoky malt and whiskey, coffee, liquorice and more. Subtle coat of fruity and full Glen Elgin. In the flavour the whiskey takes a more dominant position. The roast is pushed to the back while the malts come more upfront. Fruity notes, smokey notes. Nice one.

Near opaque, mahogany colored beer, with a small tan and a little lacing.
Whiskey notes shine through in aroma along with coffee, roasted malt, vanilla, hops and peat.
Soft almost flat carbonation, medium bodied, oily, finishes with alcohol warmth.
Flavor is sweet, salt licorice, coffee, vanilla, whiskey barrel. All nicely balanced. Aftertaste is long lasting, sweet and slightly bitter.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 n0mel (250) - FINLAND - OCT 26, 2012
(From notes 25 Oct, 2012) Bottle. Practically no head. The beer is almost pitch black. Aroma is sweet and wineish. Flavor toward a sweet soy sauce. Mouthfeel is watery, i.e. low viscosity, does not feel smooth/creamy as many others do. Finish is a alcoholic warming bitterness.
I realized while drinking this beer that I had a slight cold. I was not able to get the full experience. I suspect I would give this one a higher score when my left nostril actually lets air flow through it properly.

0.33 L bottle. Pours a ruby-edged near black body. A few beige fish-eyes on top only. Sweet alcohol-soaked dark dried fruits to the nose. Some rounded barrel notes too, and a whiff of licorice and whisky liqueur. Almost no carbonation. More than medium full. Chewy texture. Sweet-flavored with well roasted and rounded dark malts. Lots of whisky flavor, light barrel notes, and a good deal of dark dried fruits. Notes of licorice and coffee/chocolate. ’’Easy drinking’’ for such a big beer. Nice all over!
