Bottle at home, 16th March 14. Had the Bowmore BA the day before. Good aroma, lots of peat, not so much liquorice, some whiskey. Taste is smooth, peaty, some whiskey. Palate spot on. I preferred the BA not peated, but this was pretty good

(Draught at In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 28 Feb 2014) Black colour with frothy, brown head. Malty, roasted nose with oak wood, peat, chocolate, black coffee, liquorice and hints of smoke. Malty, roasted taste with notes of black coffee, dark chocolate, oak wood, peat, hints of smoke, liquorice, soy sauce and a generous coffee bitterness in the finish. Full body, with soft and rounded mouthfeel. A certain sweetness coming through, but alcohol is fairly well hidden. Very tasty and exceptionally well balanced. Stunning stuff!

Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: Almost (pitch) black pour. Small beige to brown foamy head on top of a black beer. Aroma has loads of peat, some manure, earth, smoke, roast, some garbage bag/rubber ish tones, a hint of whiskey, pee and a sprinkle of tar. Awesome aroma! Flavour is subliminally mixed: peat, vanilla, roast, bitters, some dark chocolate, coffee, wood, wood roast, some cookies, some tar, light malty wood tone and some datk chocolate drenched coffee beans. Aftertaste has tones of bitters, malts, hay, roast, coffee, some peat and some wood roast. Low carbo, creamy silky mouthfeel, full body and an oily texture. Delicious, deep, smooth, easy yet complex, very well balanced. Great beer!

Bottle 330 ml at home, into a snifter. ABV 11% Body is totally black in colour. Head is just a thin line, brown, with low retention and just some bubbles for a lacong, clinging on the glass’s walls. Aroma of smoke, roasted malts, alcohol, whiskey. Taste of roasted malts, light alcohol, vanilla, whiskey, smoke is there but very discreet. Mildly bitter on the aftertaste, along with a little bit more alcohol and a warming feeling. Once again the body is full and the carbonation on perfect levels. Sticky on the palate. Overall another great beer in the White Label series.

gEUS (890) - Linden, BELGIUM - JAN 20, 2014
330 ml bottle at home. Pours depe black with a faint beige head. Green peaty aromas, some eucalyptus, ether, coffee and chocolate, raw and in the face. Full body with nice sweet-roast-peat-bitter balance. Flavours of dark chocolate, roasted malts, whisky peat and oak (long woody aftertaste). Raw and uncut BA RIS, heavy on the peat, not as balanced but delicious nonetheless!

33 cL bottle at home. Pours very dark brown/black with a small tanned head. Aroma is peat, licorice, molasses, whisky and roasted malts. Taste has some chocolate, peat, whisky, roasted malts and licorice. Very full body and a soft carbo, velvety mouthfeel. Not always a fan of barrel aging on whisky barrels, but this is very nice. Not too much whisky and the peat improves the base beer.

33cl bottle at home. Deep dark brown almost black with a very small brown/beige head. Full body with almost no carbonation. Coffee, roast, chocolate, whisky and licorice. A great full flavoured imperial stout.
