Bottle from Bierkoning. In one word: Wow! Deep dark brown body with thin foamy tan head. Nose of rosated malts, chocolate and plenty of Jack. Taste comes on so many sides with sweet chocolate vanilla but also bitter bourbon lace and then coffee and caramel and spices. Really, really nice. Emelisse is good but this blows me away.

Bottle @ home. Aroma is well, peat and jd, but in a very nice balance. Some roast shining through. Flavour starts with an intense peat and roast bitterness, followed by some jd sweetness, followed by some alcohol, followed by malt and roast. Lingering on and on. Awesome, the peat and the jd really are a great combo.

Bottle from Pibar, Lausanne; 9.5% ABV
Black color, brownish sparse head. The dark chocolate aroma has delicate notes of peat, wood, light cheese; maybe some iron; overall it’s also quite original.
Very rich dark chocolate flavor, where the Bourbon, the oak and the peat contribute with an evident yet elegant character; there is some tar, light liquorice, moderate residual sweetness, and the finish is balanced and a bit salty, with shy alcohol warmth.

from Erzbierschof - very dark brown, almost black beer with a poor head retention; peated whisky-like aroma with notes of caramel and cherry; quite thick and full-bodied; some sweetness below soon overwhelmed by a solid and long lasting bitterness; long lasting whisky-like smokey notes; caramel, earth and licorice in the finish - splendid !

From bottle @ BBF 2011 afterparty. Cream chocolate in the aroma with some peaty notes. Dark choco, late, peat and some bourbon notes in the flavor. Delicious, luscious and amazingly complex beer.

Countbeer (6221) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - OCT 26, 2011
Bottle: Small to medium brown head on top of a black beer. Smell roasted malts, whiskey, peat, liquorice. Taste roasted malts, peat, nice but soft touch of whiskey, hint of earth, liquorice, hint of coffee, good bitter and spicy. Good bitter coffee whiskey aftertaste. Low carbo, soft silky mouthfeel, full body and a light sticky texture.
