Bottle 33 cl. Number 2 of a range of 7 Emelisse IRS. What an evening... It has a bigger dark beige head than the normal IRS. Very strong smell of fresh hop. Coffee is secondary. Smooth in the mouth. Clearly hop/bitterness in the finish, but not as much as hoped for. It’s one of these examples wherethe aroma promises more than it can deliver. I prefer the regular IRS.

UPDATED: MAY 3, 2015 Tap at Doerak (04-12-2013). Black with a medium sized tan to off-white head. Aroma of coffee, hops, and alcohol. Bitter taste with alcohol and a hint of coffee. A bit too bitter in my opinion. (7/3/7/4/15). (05/03/2015) Bottle at home (best before 12 2015). Pours black with a small beige to tan head. Aroma of soy sauce, licorice and sweet alcohol, coffee, roasted malts. Taste is sweet with some hoppy bitterness, roasted malts, soy, licorice, coffee, alcohol with an aftertaste of licorice, hint of dark chocolate. Better than last time. Nice.

Smaak is zacht, vol zoet, dropperig, zacht bitter. Aanrader.

Fles gedeeld met bryanvdv en lachneger. Donker bruin van kleur. Koffie geur met een vleugje citrus. Lekker biertje met koffie en chocolade invloeden. Zoet met heel klein bittertje. Lekkere body. Aanrader. Very true.

Big thanks to Fin&Loz&Isobel for this beer gift. 330ml bottle. Creamy, tan-coloured head. Pitch black body. Dark vanilla and dark malts on the nose. Mixed flavours of dark fruits, slightly roasted coffee beans, and chocolate leading to a malt-fruity ending. Well bodied. Fine, slow sipper (shared with Finn as a part of our mass online tasting, Tromsø 03.12.2013).

Black with a small but persistent beige head. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, plums, raisins, molasses, hint of dill. Velvety mouthfeel, full bodied, thick and complex on the palate, subtle bitterness, with some roasty wood notes on the finish. Taste is chocolate, raisins, lemon peel, dates, prunes, molasses. Damn this is good.

Bottle from quicklearner, thanks! Aroma is roasty and fresh, quite weird. Some fresh mint sensations with a big roasted malt character. Not ashy, though. Pours a really dark brown with a brown head that leaves some lacing and has a somewhat good retention. Taste is again fresh and not too sweet (good!), some roasted malt induced bitterness. Minty flavors along some coffee-like feelings. Alcohol is felt quite a bit. Carbonation is medium-high, a bit too much for me. Body is kinda full, still. A weird one, really.
