Nice beer, bit thick and sticky with a ligthbrown head. Chocolate, bit of liquorice like the normal emelisse IRS. This one is more herbal tasting and more in your face then the normal IRS, not an everyday beer but very nice to try.

Bottle. Aroma has sweet liquorice, cocoa, some soy and chocolate. Taste has cocoa, roasted malt and some citrus. Quite sour in the middle. Alcohol punches through a bit, mixing oddly with the flavor. Not bad at all. Taste is general is a strange mix of dry hops and sweet malt. Packs a punch and definetly has character.

If you want to smell & taste pickles, dille, bubblegum and coffee bitternes, this is your beer. I’m not fond of the in your face presence of the Sorachi Ace hop. Not an improvement to me in comparison with the regular RIS from Emelisse. Price €4/quality ratio: below par.

Bottled. More or less black colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is some liquorice, alcohol and quite interesting herbal and grassy notes. Not that evident Sorachi Ace actually in combination to the IS elements. Flavour is liquorice, some slight ashy and roasted notes along with some floral and grassy notes. Pleasantly balanced.

Gravity Cask at GBBF ’13, 15/08/13. Mid black with a thin tan head that clears edgeward leaving a swirl. Nose is roast malt, liquorice, hoppy back notes, candied sugars, dark toffee. Taste comprises light chocolate, hint of coconut, sugars, liqourice, dark fruits, toffee, light booze. Full bodied, soft carbonation, smooth on the palate, light spice in the finish. Very good stuff!

Draft at the Great British Beer Festival 2013. Poured a vicious black colour with a big, dense tan head. Complex aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, liquorice and with some sweet fruity notes. Full, velvety mouth feel. Bitter coffee initial flavours with dark fruit and vanilla not far behind. Fruity hop notes on the palate with burnt malt finishing with warming alcohol.
