On tap at Gbbf 2013. Very dark brown beer lasting tan head. Vanilla aroma. its amazing. I mean I donít like imperial stout in general but this is fantastic. Not stupid barrel aged good intense chocolate. Good imp stout.

Weird beer, in a good way. Itís a typical great IRS with a taste of roasted malt and roasted coffee and dark chocolate. Yet, it also has some distinct hoppiness of th Sorachi Ace hop. Great balance.

Bottle. Very dark brown - almost black, average and fully diminishing dark brown head. Full malty and sweetish aroma, roasted malt and some chocolate, some oak - vanilla and light licorice. Body is medium to full, malty and sweetish flavor, roasted malt and some coffee. Finish is average to long, malty and sweetish, roasted malt and some coffee with light salty licorice, light vanilla and light hoppyness with light alcohol. Nice roasted IS, not too sweet (considering 11%), not too much coffee.

Chilled bottle, poured into a snifter. Not that thick a pour. Head dies down quickly to form a scum but a little swirl brings it back up. Smell is hoppy, spicey, hints of lime and apple, boozey, lots of toilet cleaner/urinal cake in there too. Mouthfeel is medium, slightly foamy. Taste - some harsh chemical flavours here from the Sorachi Ace, which I think has been overused. There is a hint of some pleasant lime and coconut but itís overpowered with chemical. Harsh and unbalanced. Very interesting, but the end result isnít good. I would normally recommend drinking a hoppy beer nice and fresh, but I think that this one needs a long time to lose all of this harshness.

Tap at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, chilling by the canal 20th June 13. Elegant on the pour, fair head on it, needs to rest. Hops on the nose, thiner palate and lighter than the barrel aged versions . Very drinkable, but prefer the BA

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2013 33cl bottle at home. Shared with Mathieu87. APPEARANCE: pitch black beer, huge mocha stable head. NOSE: somewhat hoppy, little coffee, but the hop is mostly overruling, very weird for a IRS. TASTE: coffee, lots of chocolate, the hops are a lot less prominent in the taste.

Bottle 33cl, thanks to trader mijas65. Pours oil black, itís slick and sticky. Dense cream coloured head. Delicious vanilla coffee nose, roasted beans/grains. Sorachi earthly spice nose. Taste is sweet on the lips but with a deep roasted bitter finish. Palate is very good, creamy, mostly soft carbonation. Long finish, very well balanced.

Bottle at Borefts 2012 - Bodegraven. Pours black-brown with a creamy brown cap. Dark malt nose, some burnt wood, whiskey. Big sweet flavor with dark fruits, decent alcohol punch, dry burnt out wood, burnt grassy bitterness, nice bitter dark chocolate. Full bodied with fine carbonation. And its chewy. Warm finish with dynamic dark malt character, dark sugars, plums, moderate roast and cocoa. Pretty good balance overall.

Dark brown with mocca colored head. Has a deep burnt hoppy bitter flavor rounded off with some fruity sweetness. Has a dry burnt grapefruit finish. Overal itís a bit too bitter and burnt flavored to my taste, but has a nice body and flavor profile making it still tasty nonetheless.
