Medium-sized frothy, off-white head over an dark, murky brown body. Very nutty aroma, dried apricots, cream, caramel and sugary cookies. Quite original. Taste continues on this path with medium, slightly lactic sweetness and some peaky hops coming through. Thick, smooth and alcoholic body. Ending is more dry and uninspiring though. Heavy and not overly refined quad-like, but pronounced and interesting enough. (33cl bottle, 3,25 EUR)

Bottle. Dark brown color. Tropical fruit and a hint of licorice in the aroma. Malty caramelly, slightly alcoholic flavor, well hopped. Tropical fruit. Sweet, but with enough other flavors to compensate.

2007 swing top bottle. Dark brown color. Malt, caramel and licorice in the aroma. Full bodied, malty, lots of licorice, caramel, apple syrup and molasses. Potentially good, but not too well balanced. (7 3 6 2 11 = 2.9) 2009 version from tap @ 1st BBF. Malt aroma with toffee. Malty sweet flavor with cinnamon, cardemom and anis. Sticky mouthfeel.

Bottle from City Beer. Pours very dark amber with a transient beige/tan head. Aroma of malt and fruits de bois. Near full bodied. Flavor is hoppy - and a little yeasty/bready. Itís not sweet, and itís not bitter, but itís fairly hoppy. Fruits de bois covers it for me. Good stuff.

Brown and modest head. Sweet malty smell. Taste is sweet. Apache status critical. Aromas has some elements of sour type, but not exactly that. More like spicy sour, such as cinnamon. Overall good beer, although not quite my favorite style.
