I had this pegged as a dunkel. Dark brown with wheat, toffee, and dark fruit going on. Some sugar and a bit of yeast. Very tasty and smooth in the mouth. Solid.

Dark brown with a small head. Aroma of dried fruit, spices, caramel. Sweet taste with some soap. Also nuts, spices and dried fruit. Some warming alcohol, not bad but not too exciting either.

Bottle. Pours a dark bruin body with an off white head. Fruity and malty with hints of spices. Apricot, cinnamon, pepper and candied with sugar notes. Some light plum and fig seem to be found amongst the etoh warming. A nice winter offering.

The floral, fruity aroma is quite rich. It is called a Belgian ale, bu ht my taste buds thout it was a doppelbock. Sweet and rich, with a tobaccoey hop touch in the finish. Good brew.

10.14 ounce bottle from Caponeís. Pours turbid dark brownish Carolina mudddy with 2 finger off khaki head. Nose is caramel malt, spice, nutmeggy, fig, heavy hops. Tastes very malty, caramelly, with notes of spice, hops, some fig, honey, and a rich caramel and hoppy peppery presence taking a backseat to the malt. Rich and complex palate, pretty dense, with a smooth and malty finish.

2009 Bottle. Brown pour with some scarce tan head. Spices and some light fruit aroma. Flavor is spice, some light banana, citrus and belgian yeast flavor, sweet finish.

UPDATED: MAY 18, 2010 this Winterbier had a strong aura and rich, comforting texture. You can feel the booze getting you blitized and being your friend :
Caramel , stickiness, spicy bittering hops..esters ,oranges . Luv this kinda Belgian(style ale) m cause its not even trying to wow and does in a mellow, rich ,eazy buzz.

Bottle. Reddish brown beer with a strong head. The aroma is lightly rich, and the flavour is rich, malty, mildly burnít/roasted and spiced at the finish. Overall an average sweetly rich, and gently spiced Belgian style beer.

330ml Bottle (2009 Vintage): Aroma of malt, nuts, slight caramel, molasses, butter-cream, and some yeast. Poured brown/very deep amber in color with a small, creamy, dense, tan head that diminished but lasted throughout. Cloudy. Slightly sparkling. Full of small particles throughout. Flavor is medium sweet and slightly bitter. Tastes of malt, wood, slight tobacco, light nuts, light caramel, and some hops. Medium body. Lightly thick, then lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Malt, slight tobacco, slight hop, and light wood finish is lightly dry. 8.5%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

Bottle. Dark brown and red with a small head. Aromas are raisins and yeast with chocolate. Alcohol notes with spices and some toffee. Flavours are sweet chocolate and berries with fudge. Bready yeast with Winter fruit. Spicy on the finish. Good.
