COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bird Dog uses only one hop variety, NZ Cascade, from the boil right through to its massive dry hopping. Single hopped beers really give an appreciation for the characters of that particular hop and The Brew Crew here at Emerson’s reckon Bird Dog showcases NZ Cascade beautifully. A copper coloured pale ale with huge amounts of NZ Cascade that has created a floral, spicy aromatic pale ale that smells as delicious as it tastes. The hop flavour is high with a firm bitterness that leaves a crisp finish. If you aren’t a ‘Hophead’ already this is the Emerson beer that might convert you!

Wow what a great beer. Big aroma and flavour of grapefruit orange and citrus. Taste is bitter refreshing but not overly so. The intense flavour caught in the beer is the stand out. Love that beer that makes you sit back and go "oh wow" and reminds you of that 1st time you discovered beer could taste so good.

Pours a very cloudy amber, typical bottle condition with massive head. All the typical IPA fruit and hop with hop on the nose. Not as bitter as I was expecting, has a great palate though and hides the higher alc well. Some lacing down. Great stuff from Dunedin's best brewery.

Pours light amber with good head. Aroma us of citrus and pinenut. Sweet and then floral hops moderate and well rounded. The floral hops and bitterness continues. Bitter dry aftertaste. Decent and well balanced. Only criticism is it kinda foams as you take a swig... not a great sensation

Prominent orange and tropical hop aromas and flavors punctated by some resiny hop flavors make for a fine ’west coast style’ IPA. Well-done carbonation, medium-lean body, with slight drying to longer, clean finish. Thank you kmweaver for sharing.

Fresh & alive this beer is like running through a meadow on a crisp spring morning. Full of flavour and balanced nicely with hops, this beer knows what it's about. A real credit to the brewers. Served out of the fridge I'd be interested to know how it tastes at the recommended 8 to 10 but I don't think it will last that long to find out! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(Farmers market tasting tick.) 500mL bottle, from the brewer himself. Thanks, Richard! Pours a slightly hazy, light copper color; off-white head; nice lacing, decent retention. Endearing, juicy hops in the nose; orange, quite grassy, piney. Fine-bubbled CO2, and light creaminess to the texture; careful, piney and citrus focus with a deft degree of bitterness and drinkability. A damn pleasant IPA.

a little surprised by this one, the thing that is immediately apparent is the tangy fruit blast you get. plenty of bitterness too but in a refreshing way, not astringent at all. fantastic.
