COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We thought wed go back to our roots with this crisp refreshing pale ale. Everybody enjoyed our Kruger Gold lager so much we wanted to brew an ale version. Crisp with a classic clean malt profile and a lingering bitterness. Whereas Kruger was brewed using the classic European Saaz hop and a Czech lager yeast, we have brewed Arawa Gold with Styrian Goldings and an ale yeast. The differences are subtle but this ale is slightly more fruity on the nose and has an aroma of grassiness from the dry hopping. The Styrian hop lends a crisp citrus finish to Arawa, perfect for the long summer days here in Dunedin - and like this pint - ahem, when we get those days we make the most of them! Due to the incredible amount of dry hopping you will notice a slight haze when the beer is cold. This is classic "chill haze". We could have added a few "brewers goodies" to eliminate this but have left Arawa as it came out of the tank - full of flavour and tap fresh. Enjoy an Emersons Summer with Arawa Gold.

Pours deep golden orange, white head. Aroma is nicely hopped, with nice floral passionfruit leading and smooth spicy malt in the background. The flavour starts out with bitter passionfruit which fades, allowing some malty flavours to compliment the hops. This results in a more subdued fruity flavour more like orange. A smooth vanilla flavour presents with the malt. The finish is bitter, slightly dry and very refreshing. A very drinkable ale for these summery days.

Gruff stuff with a long herbal bitter finish - a bit much for this kid. A versatlie food beer though - I wanted something hot’n’tangy. Lagery(!?) aroma with distant fruit. Tangerine gold with a white head. Fresh, hoppy and snappy with floral burps. Dominated by herbal fullness with malt notes of sweet and sour creeping underneath. This snappy, herby element reminds me of Kruger’s Gold. The body combo of snappy hops and carbonation gives a drying finish. For a hot day after hard work with all kinds of food: Moroccan, Mediterranean, dry curries, Mexican, creamy chicken pasta...

Tried on flagon from regional, looked great in the glass but didn’t really do it for me, tobacco malt flavours balanced by a herbal peppery bitterness. nicely made but not my cup of tea, probably wouldn’t have finished the flagon but was stuck with the inlaws so needed something to dull the pain....
