3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 donfardz64 (538) - Wellington, New Zealand, - NOV 20, 2008
Pours amber, off white head. Aroma is quite fruity, maybe green grapes. Definite hops quite strongly in the aroma as well. Taste initially you get the green grape fruitiness, with some hop bitterness in the background. As the fruit fades the hops come in much stronger, also allowing the malt to showcase itself. Ends slightly dry. A very nice fruity pale ale, up to the high Emerson’s standard.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 DiscoForever (71) - Dunedin, NEW ZEALAND - AUG 12, 2009
Tap at Tonic. Smells yum! Fruity, sweet caramel and a kiwifruit hop tang. Looks coppery clear, white head ducks way with good lacing. Taste is balanced between the hop snap and bitterness that doesn’t overwhelm the malt. The body is smooth and very easy drinking (not as full or syrupy as the APA) - a session APA? Good intro to pales for uninitiated. Could drink this all day or with pizza, salty snacks, BBQ steak, Mexican or to cut the grease of fish’n’chips.
Nice one.
1.8 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20 kempicus (355) - Bakewell, Derbyshire, ENGLAND - OCT 31, 2008
Flagon from Regional wines. Pours a lovely darkish copper with an off white head, certainly looks good in the glass.....nose is all green apples and superglue, more green apples on the palate with a harsh bitterness to finish. no real hop aromas or flavours a real disappointment, makes me wonder if i got the first one out of the tap....

Sampled off the taps at Regionals. Great system they have there. I’m a big fan of APA style beers and this one is a beauty with an NZ twist. Kiwi hops in full effect giving it a nice bite. Plenty of stonefruit flavour.
