This yearís release continues in the spirit of Jean Pierre-Dufourís passion for the diversity of Belgian beer styles. We have gone to the dark side in pursuit of different flavour experience.

The beer is based on the Dubbel style, like a true Belgian there are many variations on the style as we have added a hint of star anise to the brew. A purist may consider our style to be a Belgian Strong dark ale.

The aroma brings forth hints of cloves, anise and some delicate fruitiness.

The taste reveals sweet complex hints of cloves, anise and some ester fruitiness. The impression is a full on flavour-some beer! As the carbonation softens, the mouth feel becomes more creamy.

This should be a great beer to watch evolve over time. Our experience with the Belgian yeast in the first JP (2007) has shown that there were even more amazing complexities that developed with new flavours emerging. With this yeast it will be, no doubt, a great beer to watch evolve over time.

We urge you to try and cellar some!

Bottle. Fruity nose with plenty of belgian yeast characteristics. Fruit and spice mixes deliciously in the mouth, in a creamy and warming palate. Have one more of this vintage left, canít see it lasting long.

Bottle. Pours a kind of murky dark brown with huge coffee coloured head. Aromas are quite spicy with plenty of aniseed and clove. Also some alcohol and perhaps a little dark fruit. Not too bad. Flavours unfortunately seemed a little off to me. Plenty of aniseed and clove thre once again. The drak fruit and alcohol are also there. Just doesnít seem quite right and the spices seem to detract from the base beer. Struggled to get through the whole bottle. Normally love these guys beers but unfortunately not this one.

look iím sorry iím a big fan of emersons but this is a DOGíS BREAKFAST of a beer. going "belgian" seems to have inspired them to go even more OTT with spices than the undrinkable taeri george. the aroma is the weirdest thing i have ever smelt. part anise (which i expected) and part clothes that were left in the washing machine too long. "hints" of cloves, anise and some delicate fruitiness??? nothing delicate or hinting here. in the mouth ashy roasted malts clash horribly with banana esters and ridiculous amounts of anise. may well improve in a couple of years with this level of spice, ester and roast, but at the moment itís horrible.
