kempicus (146), Wellington, New Zealand Mar 15, 2008 I like this beer, to often i’ve had acrid porters that are tough going but this is surprisingly mellow. It’s a characterful beer that isn’t overly intense in any way i guess i’d call that ’balanced’. In any case i enjoy the hints of roastiness, the dash of sweet malt and the dry finish.
douglas88 (641), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Jul 25, 2008 Brought from Dunedin by Andrew, thanks man I owe you. Pours a dark cherry color with a very hug beige head. A heavy sour and burnt aroma. A very smooth and full mouthfeel. The taste was mostly a interesting burnt malt and roasted chocolate mix, followed by a bitter soapy finish. Some light coffee also. Very nice. Smooth and easygoing. dunkpigen (253), Kolding, Denmark Jul 13, 2008 Bottle at Århus Ølfestival 2008. Pours black with a small head. Aroma is soft, sweet with caramel, roasted malt and then chocolate. Flavour is sweet again with caramel, roasted malt and chocolate. skortila (2359), Bunnik, Netherlands Jun 30, 2008 Bottled @ Aarhus beerfestival 2008. Aroma has coffee, roast and some vanilla. Black coloured beer with a beige head. Taste is sweet, has bitterness, coffeeroast. Nice and straightforward. FrankJohansen (2555), Sabro, Denmark Jun 27, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown colour with a huge creamy beige head. Light roasted aroma and taste with notes of coffee and chocolate. Good beer. Kiwi_Jonno (24), Christchurch, New Zealand Jun 22, 2008 500mL Bottle. Black beer with a slight red glow to it. Small light brown head that was short lasting. The beer description on the bottle sums up the beer quite well "Roasty Malty Bitter Dark Ale". The beer has a roasty malt taste then a smooth malt/hop bitterness in the aftertaste.
