Pale golden colour with a short head, hoppy citrus aroma and a taste of lemon zest, slightly oily texture with soft carbonation.

50 cl bottle. No yeast at the bottom. Light amber colour with a large white head. Nice aroma of citrus and fruit. Great flavour of Light maltness citrus and hops. A really great refreshing ale, that ends quite bitter at the end.

Foamy golden head, hazy orange golden body. Dominating dry hop aroma with an acidid edge, nice and fresh. Hoppy flavor as well with dusty tones and plenty of fruit such as orange and lemon. Pretty nice, but not too interesting and has a somewhat unpleasant herby tone to it.

Bottle, pours a clear amber with a large foamy white head. The aroma combines flowery hop and grainy malt. Quite a smooth palate with just enough crispness and dryness. The Maris Otter malt teaming up well with the flowery and bitter hops. Has got better since I would have last tasted this years ago.

Chuncky white head breaks down quickly. Bright amber almost tending to rusty orange. Hoppy, herbal nose with sweet notes, quite aromatic, lots of appeal. Backs up very well to taste with more herbal hops coming through. Intensity kicks up a gear with a very noticeably bitter note among the floral hops. Palate stays very light but the beer has true flavour presence although to be fair the flavour is ‘front-end’ loaded with the flavours tailing off in the back half. Regardless a very well made beer.

This reminds me of Little Creatures. The floral hop character is evident straight away and the cloudy orange hue is typical of the bottle conditioned ale. This was very keen to escape the bottle on opening but it soon settled down. I agree that there is a clear citrus tang to this beer which is supported by a good balance of bitterness and malt. For a low ABV it has a lot going for it.

Another rich, flavoursome ale from one of Australasia’s best brewers. Brewed with British Maris Otter barley, this packs a lot of punch for a golden ale. I found it too intense to be sessionable, but that’s personal taste. As always with Emersons’ brews, it presented well in the glass with a tall head that left reefs of lace. Quite a herbal aroma - faint echoes of Orval, as Bridge observed. Also Weetbix, cider apples and rusty nails in a tart olfactory package. Soft mouthfeel. Lots of passionfruit tartness on the tongue, plus pineapple and salt before a big, phlegmy finish. Not their best work but well made. (500ml bottle from Scenic Cellars, Taupo. BB May 08)

UPDATED: APR 20, 2004 little creatures with the treble turned up. very nice floral/fruity stench, full but dry crackery malt, + intense fruit o' the forest tang and whiteout bitterness. underneath all that tang and zing and bitterness there's a nice mellow fruity yeast oozing out plum and dried apple. i like it a lot. rer8: odd, this time i was completely underwhelmed. there just wasn't a lot of flavour going on. same stuff as before, just tamer, and the wheaty taste annoyed me. i was trying to explain what the beer was called to my girlfriend's kiwi cousin and she thought i said "amersons" which was funny.
