Very sweet and malty with no hops to be found anywhere! Terrific stuff. Rich body and thick. Bought in Hokitika.

Pours a clear black with an average, creamy off-white head and fair lacings. Not so sweet with a bit of bitterness. Malty aromas of chocolate and roasted malts. Hint of vanilla too. Medium to full bodied with a soft carbonation. Very good.

Another fantastic beer from Emersons, this stout pours a deep red-tinged brown with a dense creamy head. Beautiful smoky roasted malts and chocolate that carry through the palate. Perfect carbonation makes it feel great in the mouth, and terrific balance makes this a stout you could drink all night.

Poured from the bottle. Reddish black colour with a thin head that disappointingly quickly dissipated. Aroma is very malty, definitely chocolate. Taste is again chocolate, slightly roasted this time. Very smooth over the tongue, with a nice bitterness. Certainly one of my preferred stouts.
