austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA Dec 19, 2007 Very sweet and malty with no hops to be found anywhere! Terrific stuff. Rich body and thick. Bought in Hokitika. sunevdj (1365), Copenhagen, Denmark Apr 8, 2008 Pours a clear black with an average, creamy off-white head and fair lacings. Not so sweet with a bit of bitterness. Malty aromas of chocolate and roasted malts. Hint of vanilla too. Medium to full bodied with a soft carbonation. Very good. DuffMan (1915), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Jun 23, 2005 Another fantastic beer from Emersons, this stout pours a deep red-tinged brown with a dense creamy head. Beautiful smoky roasted malts and chocolate that carry through the palate. Perfect carbonation makes it feel great in the mouth, and terrific balance makes this a stout you could drink all night. gam (515), brisbane, Australia May 11, 2008 Big biege frothy head on a dark opaque stout with good carbonation.Aroma is rich malt chocolate, hops roasted, molasses and liccorice notes.Flavour good smooth chocolate malt, very easy tasting slight bitter is good.can taste the oats, blends in well with the malt.Finish, bitter plus a smooth malt oat chocolate taste. TheGrandMaster (1434), Auckland, New Zealand Jan 31, 2005 Updated: Nov 9, 2007Poured from the bottle. Reddish black colour with a thin head that disappointingly quickly dissipated. Aroma is very malty, definitely chocolate. Taste is again chocolate, slightly roasted this time. Very smooth over the tongue, with a nice bitterness. Certainly one of my preferred stouts.
