Cloudy amber colour with a loose uneven head. Floral hop aroma, strong in the mouth (in a good way) and sweet.

A slightly hazy amber beer with a huge orange head. The aroma is sweet with notes of wood, alcohol, and over ripe fruits. The flavor is "old" as an Old Ale should be with notes of wood, over ripe fruit, oranges comes to mind, and alcohol tickling the tongue, leading to a quite heavy sweet end, from which the alcohol and wood lingers the longest. Nice.

Bottle. Medium head with medium duration. Color is hazy brown. Aroma is honey sweet. Nice mouthfeel. Taste is dominated by honey, but also malty as well. But I must say that it is too sweet for me.

50 cl bottle. Yeast at the bottom. Dark brown colour with a small head. Great aroma of sweet caramel, malt and hints of toffee and chocolate. Fine flavour of maltness and caramel with hints of hops, very tasty and with a great smooth finish.

Strong aroma of alcohol and hops, slight lemony scent. Strong initial vanilla carmel-ish flavor, with a hint of bourbon, finishes with an intense hoppiness, but not overbearing.
Thankyou Jon for bringing this back from NZ.

Thanks for sharing Kevin! Pours a dark amber body, with an off white head about 1cm thick. Aromas are plums, raisins, malty, with a touch of burbon. Taste is very much alcohol based, with some old malt, and cognac flavours. Hoppy, and sweet. Very much a barleywine IMO. Bitter lingering finish. Thanks again Kevin!

A white head, which gets very thin, yet lasts. Leaves a good lace. Dark orange in color. Spicy aroma with pepper notes. Has cake and biscuit hints as well. A bit dry in texture. Soft, light-to medium. Lots of species in the flavor at first. Then gets bitterer. Hoppy, a bit sour.

This Emerson is also a light copper coloured beer with a small head. The aroma is vintage, roasted malt and caramel. The taste is sweet and full with a nice transition to a bitter hoppy finish. This is a superbly balanced beer with an aftertaste of caramel, whisky and wood. This beer was about two years old.

21 Mar 2005 - Big spiritous hop fruit malt aroma. Medium cloudy brown colour, lowish head and suds lacing. Sweet and big hoppy flavour that is quite malty. Tangy but lightly carbonated, lingering spirit finish and a bit too bitter in the finish for me.
