COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a traditional English old ale and very true to type. A strong beer, full bodied with an initial deceptive sweetness, but with hops enough to give a dry finish. It is definitely a beer to be savoured rather than quaffed. It slips down like velvet and makes an ideal partner for rich fruitcake and similar seasonal fare. Available August.

100ml taster at EBF. Hazy, orange body with a fast diminishing head. Mild aroma of dark fruits. Some caramel malts in flavour. Dry palate and foamy in the mouth (12.09.2008).

We all have one, a relative who doesn't realise how old he is and who gets himself into trouble by trying to be something he really isn't. Well, old 95 is like that relative. He looks good and had a clean head, even making sure he washes behind the ears. He thinks he is strong and makes out to be that by being inappropriately too alcoholic. There is a bit of a funny smell about him, some fortified wine mixed with a hint of stale tobacco. In all, he should be pensioned off.

Århus2008. 50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a fully disappearing head. Mild spiced and light hoppy aroma. Light breadish and spiced flavour foes into a finish that is light spiced and a bit dull.

(on bottle)I really dig Emersons, but this one is no good to me. It dosen´t fit the old ale style, as far as I can tell and it´s way too bitter/metallic for my tounge. Has got a sweet frutity nose and some caramels too it too. But the mouthfeel is not aged at all. No roundness, layered tastes or deepness what so ever. High carbonation makes the hopping even worse to me; it´s hurts, man. Either old ales are very different(and I know they can be) or I got a bad bottle. Reading the other ratings, just make me wonder; should I drink vodka istead of beer?
