3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 jimthechap (798) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 23, 2011
While veering toward black, it has russet copper tones against light and a fluffy off-white head. This smells of shortcrust, sweet pastry, apples, cinnamon and that’s all I can divine, but that’s not a bad thing at all.
Again, the first flavour is that of baking. Lush, warm, creamy and then there’s coffee and chocolate (good Dutch chocolate) and stewed fruits. This is lovely, and might addthat I was a real nerd and made sure I drank tis beer as close to the recommended 8 degrees celcius (my electronic thermometer said 7.8). I thoroughly enjoyed this beer and will enjoy the rest slowly and deliberately.
While I’m doing so and the beer warms slightly, you get the characteristic banana cake and bubblegum.. Hmmm.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Dudar (101) - Minsk, BELARUS - JAN 31, 2011
Dark brown with glowing red hue, thin dense head. Nose is malty sweet, dark fruit, nuts, banana, rum, spices. Taste malt, some caramel, burnt dark fruits, roasty bitterness, quite bitter with warming alcohol. Creamy texture with crisp bitterness. Very enjoyable, but hops are dominating the palate, where more maltiness was expected.

Palate: Full bodied. soft carbonation, creamy and sticky texture, fruity, longish finish--a little sweet and sour.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 nate2g (1548) - Boomtown!, AUSTRALIA - FEB 22, 2010
Bottle. Pours dark brown with a huge tanned head. Superb nose that’s spot on for the style. Heaps of choc-caramel and banana goodness that’s balanced nicely with wheaty spice notes. The flavour is more rich and introduces dark fruit elements. It all works really well, and surprisingly easy to drink with the highish abv. Quite smooth with a subtle spicy finish. Bottle courtesy of SorenE...cheers mate!
