3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Zeswaft (1183) - Seattle, USA - MAY 20, 2006
Interesting beer to say the least. Sweetness, sweetness, caramel, candy, sweetness. Aroma I likened to swedish fish candy. Deep amber color and an off-white head. Wow, the flavor is so sweet and thick and syrupy. Uber malty. Good amount of citrus hops. Definitely seemed under attenuated.

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2006 looks wonderful. straight red. had a half pint draft. zeswaft mentioned that ambers are like APA’s with a stronger malt presence. it was a moment of intuition for me, as emerson or thoreau called it. it makes so much sense now i see substanceT calls it the best amber he’s had. i can’t say the same... and as an "imperial amber," this didn’t screw around. soooo sweet, i figure this was something most ratebeerians would hate, but i found myself really liking it. zero alcohol taste, but the waiter said it was a "tad under 10%" abv.

This is the best amber I have ever had. Served in a snifter at the brewery at Emmett’s Pub House in Downers Grove. Hazy dark copper almost brownish gold in color. Nice thick grey white head that left good lacing on the glass. Nose was very strong with alcohol and sweetness from malts. The taste has more of a puch of hops with more malts and sweetness that appears right after the alcohol. Very solid and very very good. Get some of this stuff while you can!!!
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Cornfield (5277) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - MAY 8, 2006
Beautiful pour, a deep red body with a creamy, good lacing, off-white head. Very malty, buttered bread and caramel aroma with a balance of bitter, citric hops. The flavor is a solid blending of two strong flavors, rich sweet malts and a hoppy bitterness, with the addition of of a light fruitiness and a touch of alcohol. Wish I knew the abv. One of the best ambers that I’ve had in along time.

Rich, hoppy, creamy, buttery aroma. Hazy dark red body with a large, off-white frothy head. Sheet lace. Very strong alcohol profile. Unique beer. Very malty; perhaps not as good as it promised in the initial mouthfeel. Wants to be better, but still a very solid brew.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 kseecs16 (1090) - Naperville, Illinois, USA - MAY 1, 2006
Downers Grove location. A beautiful rich dark amber with ruby highlights. Clear with an inconsiderable head. A hint of alcohol pervades a sweet cotton candy aroma with a tiny bit of dried fruits and some hops hiding in there. Very sweet upfront with a touch of sugary raisins, but this is overpowerd by a hopfinish that mingles wonderfully. There is a slight tingle in the mouth on this rich and creamy beer.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 DrnkMcDermott (2444) - Downers Grove, Illinois, USA - APR 25, 2006
10 oz. snifter at Downers. Deep amber, you betcha, with a lacy, yellowish-brown head. A ’clean’ brandy smell. Dang if it doesn’t have a very hearty hop load, like a new Bigfoot. The Centennial hops don’t get much chance to show their citrus-ness, more of an excess English bitterness. Taste just has a slight alcohol burn in front of a caramel and biscuit malt roast.
