Brewhaha. Poued reddish amber color with a decent off-white head. Decent amount of hoppy aroma which is promising. On the lighter side of medium bodied. Decent balance with a decidedly hoppy finish. Fair to decent beer.

Pours a dark red with with a creamy looking white head. Aroma consists of caramel, nuts, some floral hops, and bread. I don’t get a whole lot of bread or the hops in the taste. Instead, I get all caramel and nuts. It is slightly bitter. Nutty aftertaste. This one is lighter in body and slick, with some flatter carbonation. This is very drinkable, but it isn’t terribly exciting.

I got this as part of an M&M 6pk from Binny’s in Downer’s Grove, IL in spring 2012.
It pours a reddish brown color with only a slight head. The scent is mild with bitter hops with some toasted malts lingering behind. The taste is very true to the red ale characteristics. It is very smooth with a good toasted malt flavor that finishes with a good crisp after taste. Very well made indeed.

Bottle from Binnys sample rack. Pours foggy red with thick head...slowly dissipates. Hoppy nose with a edge of bitterness in the initial taste. A little put off by the immense head...like I shook it up...but now getting to the taste...quite good.

On tap at brew pub DG, pours a bright clear amber with a medium khaki head. Aroma is very hoppy with citrus, pine, and caramel malt, nice freshness. Taste of earth grain and caramel malts followed by bright bitter pine and citrus. Very enjoyable!

This came in trade from my next-door neighbor. I’d call this a red American Pale Ale. 12 oz bottle pours an almost clear red/orange with a white head and good lacing. Aroma is full of citrus and floral hops. Taste is a little on the bitter side with a clean finish. Not too much carbonation, but an excellent clean mouthfeel. Much better than expected and no complaints at all.

Paddle sampler on tap at the brewpub (Downers Grove, IL). My first visit to Emmett’s. Pours a rich copper pour, a bit darker with a reddish glow. No haze and moderate offwhite head sits atop. A thicker ring sits around and laces ok. Aromas are biscuity and toasty off the bat, some mellow sweet bread, faint caramel, and a distinct nuttiness grow with some decent American floral, grass, and mellow touches of citrusy hops worked into the fold. Grows on me. Initial is medium bodied, offering some toastiness, caramel, and biscuits. Toast moves into a healthy earthy hopping in the middle, offering healthy florals and earth, weeds and some touches of grapefruit. Not lively but a sufficient bitterness grows into the finish. More earthiness, peanuts, and dry floral hops mix with lingering toastiness, faint sweetness into the finish. Better than I though it would be, staying away from the sweeter side of the style.
