3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Narnad (1340) - Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA - AUG 31, 2009
Deep red-amber note with a moderate white, foamy head. Aroma has a lot of citrus notes, some light floral hops, a nice maltiness with a light toasted caramel and nutty note. Flavor has a smooth citrus hops front with a pretty sweet malt profile composed of caramel, toffee and a toasty note. Overall a pretty solid brew, pretty sweet but well balanced with the hops notes and one I will definitely get again.

Had on cask at Firkin in Libertyville, IL. Big hop aroma, mostly citrus, which goes into the flavor along with some cream and big malt.

Pint served at Downers Grove. Poured a slightly hazy walnut brown with some ruby tones. The head was off white and foamy with some good, clingy, creamy looking lacing. The aroma was malty, with some fruit sweetness and floral notes. The flavor added a touch of caramel, and a medium hop bitterness that lasted to the finish. The mouthfeel had a nice creaminess to it. Very nice Amber.

I was told this is the new version of the Centennial Amber since it was the award winner. Outstanding aroma and mouthfeel-a good cross between an amber and red, with enough hops to keep it from being sweet. One of the best I’ve ever had at Emmetts-and that’s saying a lot.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Dragonfly1 (401) - - JUL 19, 2008
Sampler at the brewery. Copper red color, nice head. Strong aroma- sweet- dried fruit, maybe strawberry? Flavor is very sweet, more dried fruit and berries, hops take over right at the end to keep it from cloying. A touch too sweet overall for me though.

I am pretty sure this beer is just a relabeling of their Centennial amber per what the bartender at Emmett’s told me. Anyhow it is not bad. Reddish amber in color with a nice noticeably citric hopiness that cuts through the malts. Sort of like their Victory but dialed down on the hops and up on the malts. Solid.
