This one sampled at the West Dundee location. When it arrived, it was very dark garnet in color, with some off-white lacing. It had a nutty/caramel malt thing happening, with an herbal hop balance. On the whole, just slightly bitter, which is probably right for the style. It goes down too easily.

Narnad (1147) - Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA - AUG 20, 2009
Served at the Dundee location. Very dark brown with a deep ruby note for color and a dense, off white, very creamy head. Aroma is all malt nose with lots of caramel, a little Munich malt, an earthy mossy note, a heavy toasted malt note overall with just a little burnt note and some light grassy hops. Flavor starts off with a light chocolate, lots of toasted malt middle, very very light smokey ending to go along with the very sweet caramel, toasted, almondish ending. Great density, medium carbonation rate so all the flavors really seem to pop from it, creamy and leaves awesome lacing on the glasses. An awesome brew overall, perfect styling, and one brew I really think would fit well as an all year option on tap.

Draught at the West Dundee location. Rich malty flavor and aroma. Big gobs of off-white lacing. Malty dry roast flavor, fairly mild and subdued, a bit nutty. Full bodied.

UPDATED: JUL 5, 2005 On tap at Emmett’s Ale House: This poured an earthy brown with a creamy head through which large bubbles erupted. This interesting head "laced" the glass in clumpy sheets as I drank. They served this way too cold, so it took some time to drink. The faint aroma is of roasted malts, a touch of toffee, and a hint of smoke. This was smooth in the mouth and tasted of roasted malt, some sweet caramel, nuttiness, and a bit of peaty smoke. The finish was somewhat bitter. Not bad at all.

Reddish-brown body under a small, creamy tan head. Lightly malted aromas with almonds, spice and pepper. Bittersweet flavor and a pronounced nuttiness with an oily palate.

Darky ruby red. Head is small, but bright white. Extremely light caramel malt aroma. Caramely flavor with hints of smoked peat. Sweet finish.
