COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This silky smooth dark ale is full of complex malt flavor. Dark fruit, chocolate and caramel are just the beginning. An earthy hop flavor adds to the enjoyment of this traditional English classic.

12 oz. bottle poured to a shaker displaying a darkest brown color, with a creamy, tan head that took it’s time to reduce to a ring & film, and good cling to the waves & spots of lacing. The nose was very roasty, with smooth malt, dominant cocoa, secondary coffee, a little nuttiness, and a touch of caramel. The flavor was similar, with complimentary, medium hop bitterness and a slight hint of char or burnt grain. Medium to full body, with a light silkiness to the mouthfeel, and a pleasant, finishing dryness. Robust but smooth from first sip to last.

Thanks to Pawola22 for sending me this bottle. Labeled as Emmetts Robust Porter. The beer pours a dark brown to black color with a small tan head. The aroma is heavy on the chocolate and roasted malt with some cream notes. Very nice. The flavor is full of bitter chocolate with some roasted malt. I also get some coffee and cream notes. This is a full flavored American porter and is very enjoyable. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

12oz bottle from a sixer as "Robust Porter." Pours a black body with a finger-width, creamy, brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is roasty with some licorice dark fruits, burnt malts and meat, chocolate, and some light caramels. Flavor is roasty up front with some burnt malts, chocolate, caramel, licorice spice, dark fruits, and a light caramel. Finishes pleasantly dry with a roasty, coffee, light earthy hop bitterness that leaves a lengthy aftertaste. Medium-light, creamy body and soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty tasty porter. Solid roast and chocolately malt with a nice licorice spice and touch of dark fruit, earthiness. Very smooth body and extremely easy drinking. Well done.

This one poured with an actual "shiny" chocolate appearance and a medium lasting head. The aroma was of equal parts chocolate and medium roast coffee. Bitter chocolate dominated the malt flavor profile, with a slight caramel and roast hint. Hops balanced fairly well with an appropriate herbal taste to clean things up on the finish. It is what I’d call a session porter.

Pours a dark black color with a thick, creamy, brown-tan head. Aroma is heavy of dark roasted malt: chocolate comes through first with a light coffee note and ends with a burned malt hint. Flavor is fantastic with a very smooth, creamy blend of a slightly dominate chocolate malt flavor, light coffee bitterness, great burnt malt flavor with a slightly fruity, prunish and apple, sweetness. The flavors really meld together perfectly with nothing being overbearing or strong. Definitely will be looking for this one again on my next stop and wish it was on tap all the time like their Victory Pale Ale.

This draft brew from the brew pub poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a opaque no visible carbonation black colored body and a fair lacing. The mild aroma was brown malt and toffee. . The flavor contained notes of dark malt brown malt and toffee. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again.

#1035, on tap at the Brewery in West Dundee Illinois. Black and nearly opaque. Thin to medium, medium lasting brownish foamy head. Nose is rich with malts and chocolate. Taste is just right for a porter. Not too heavy but a strong presence of grains, malts, roastedness and chocolate. Filling and delicious. For a porter a very good beer.

Not sure if this is a porter or a stout. Whatever, it is tasty. A good presence of roasted barley and chocalate malts, finishes dry and easy. Fine beer, great head.
