This silky smooth dark ale is full of complex malt flavor. Dark fruit, chocolate and caramel are just the beginning. An earthy hop flavor adds to the enjoyment of this traditional English classic.

Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a darker head tan that recedes quickly. Aroma is a bit different and pretty good. It contains chocolate, licorice, nuts, and hints raisin. As for the taste, heavier amounts of coffee appear and loses a lot of the chocolate impressions. Much more of what I was expecting from the aroma still exist though. Licorice, nuts and just a little bit of raisin. There is some smokiness that comes through at the end. Aftertaste is a smoky coffee and is long lasting. Medium bodied with a thick creamy blend in texture. There isnít a whole lot of carbonation. This one is easy drinking and is some good stuff.

355ml bottle. Awesome appearance with a creamy/foamy dark tan head and dark brown body. Aroma is fresh baked chocolate muffins, bread, coffee, caramel, dark fruits, and herbal hops. Flavor is alted milk balls, cacao nibs, coffee, toast, and soem creamy dark prune/date. It is dry so its all just flavor and not much sweetness. Lower abv. Ncie one.

Chocolate, roasted malt aroma. Deep brown color with tan head. Roasted, dark chocolate, toffee, burnt flavors. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation with balanced hop bitterness. Great interpretation of the Robust Porter style.

12oz bottle. A pretty well done, classic Porter. Brown-black body, hints of burgundy. Steady, creamy beige head. Has a touch more chocolate character than typical. Roasted, chocolate, caramel malt showcase. Medium bodied, never overwhelming on the palate. Sweet finish..not much hop character.

Bottle. Poured black color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate roasted sweet malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium dark chocolate flavor with medium dark sweet finish of moderate duration. Solid complex beer.

Aroma is dark malts, dark fruit and fruit/a hint of acidity. The flavor is dark malts, light coffee and a long and tart/acidic fruit finish.

12 oz. bottle pours an opaque dark brown iwth 1 finger tan head and good lacing. Aroma is full of roasted malts, but also cocoa, nuts, and a bit of coffee. Taste is slightly sweet. Body is light to medium with a chalky mouthfeel. A decent but not great porter/

It was a porter, just not that robust. All the right stuff is there: dark pour, coffee and roasted chocolate. The aroma and taste were just a little weaker than I expected. The label led me astray.

tmoreau (2465) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - JAN 20, 2012
12 oz. bottle poured to a shaker displaying a darkest brown color, with a creamy, tan head that took itís time to reduce to a ring & film, and good cling to the waves & spots of lacing. The nose was very roasty, with smooth malt, dominant cocoa, secondary coffee, a little nuttiness, and a touch of caramel. The flavor was similar, with complimentary, medium hop bitterness and a slight hint of char or burnt grain. Medium to full body, with a light silkiness to the mouthfeel, and a pleasant, finishing dryness. Robust but smooth from first sip to last.
