4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 conicus (1) - palatine, Illinois, USA - MAR 15, 2010 does not count
An outstanding representation of what an American Pale Ale should be. The citrus nose and palate are ridiculously good. I believe people blur the line of an IPA and an APA. Those who can appreciate the difference will love this beer.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 chicagodri (1683) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 14, 2010
Cask at Night of the Living Ales. Pours orange - citrus hop nose. Flavor of floral and citrus hops. A little light - but decent enough. At least it was easy to get to - being on the end.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 msante79 (2124) - Mount Prospect, Illinois, USA - MAR 7, 2010
On tap at Palatine location. Pours clear golden orange with white head. Aromas of citrus, caramel malts, and some hops. Flavors of hops, citrus, and caramel malts. Fair amount of bitterness in finish. Pretty solid APA.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Frank (2188) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 7, 2010
Cask version at Night of the Living Ales 2010. Orange golden. Citrus hop nose w/ floral notes and some melon. Dry and a little too light bodied for my liking leading to the earthy bitterness in the finish to come off too strong.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 JaBier (3729) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - DEC 30, 2009
Sample at the Downer’s Grove location. Clear orange pour with a big white head. Citrusy and grassy hop aroma with some sweet malt. Grapefruit and pine hop flavor with some malt and a lasting bitter finish.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dogbrick (6041) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - SEP 30, 2009
Sample at the Palatine brewpub. This beer is a clear copper-orange color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Hoppy nose with touches of malt. Medium body with a moderately hoppy flavor with notes of toffee and malt underneath. The finish is evenly hoppy and malty with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Decent overall.

Maybe not their flagship, but for sure a repeat medal winner as mentioned by the barkeep. clear copper with an off white frothy top. Aroma is midly hopped but taste is suprisngly firm yet super clean. Noticeable pine and a little spice near the finish. A very solid APA.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 shigadeyo (2400) - Harrison, Ohio, USA - JUL 11, 2009
11/16/2007: Emmett’s Victory Pale Ale has a transparent gold appearance with an off-white head. I like the amarillo-like hop aroma and accompanying light toffee maltiness. The flavor has a slighy sugary toffee maltiness paired with grapefruit hoppiness. This beer has a meidum-body and is smooth. Overall this is a pretty good APA.
Sample (draught; 5.7%) at Emmett’s Ale House in Oswego, IL. Rating #32 for this beer.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Narnad (1340) - Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA - JUN 3, 2009
Found this limited cask ale on tap at Emmetts in West Dundee on 6/2/09 during their quarterly beer tasting. Pulled from the tap a golden orange with a cascade of bubbles similar to a Guinness pour. Thick, very frothy white head a top the glass that leaves a very thick lacing behind. Aroma is a modest citrus and pine bitterness with a bit of an almost dry leafy aroma, light woodiness and some light caramel behind the hops aromas. Flavor is a strong citrus and pine punch with a smoother caramel malt sweetness and a woody/oak flavor to finish it up. Served warm and has low carbonation like most cask ales are and has a very smooth feeling. Similar in flavor to the normal Victory Pale ale but just a bit of a different feeling due to the lack of carbonation, making the body feel slightly watery when combined with the flavor. Overall a great twist on their classically great beer! Earlier Rating: 11/27/2008 Total Score: 4.1 Thick frothy head that lasts. A nice golden color with aroma composed of great grassy notes and a strong citrus aroma. Flavor is really really good. Very rich citrus flavor, grassy hints come through as well, and a nice caramel sweetness. The beer is very well balanced. Overall, this is one of the best pales I have had and will definitely be a common beer to drink while I am there.
