3.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A proper rich stout. I had it out on the patio and it kept me warm. It has more of an alcohol taste than other locally made stouts, I find, but it isnít over-powering. Perfect creaminess that goes down easy. Highly recommended!

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A roasty, creamy stout that stands out as one of Empire?s mainstays, being on nitro really helps this beer develop its rich but not overpowering flavors. A great session stout.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap @ Empire Brewpub w Ronnee of Feb 3. Pours black w brown head. Frothy/creamy. Nose of coffee and nuts. Palate is heavy w chocolate and coffee (though not incredibly roasty). Underlying sweetness to it, though I donít know if itís any fruit in particular or just heavy sugar/yeast. Heavy mouthfeel. Kind of a typical stout in a lot of ways, but itís still good.

On Tap at the Brew Pub. This was a nice dark, thick pour with a small tan head. Good lacing. Aromas of roasted coffee and chocolate. Flavor was much the same and was nice and creamy. Good stuff.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This is my favorite beer at Empire Brewing Company. Tan frothy head. I couldnít smell much but maybe I had a cold. itís an opaque black pour. Its creamy and thicker. Smokey flavor thats alittle overpowering with a hint of chocolate, possibly coffee. Very smooth brew.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Part of a sampler at brewpub. I found all the brews to be better than average though I donít remember specifics for most of them. It is worth mentioning that the sampler here is very generous with glasses that are big enough to really give you enough to form an opinion. I found this stout to be one of the best out of the samples.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft (nitro). Pours near black with a beige head. Light dry roasty aroma with a light chocolate sweetness. The flavor has roasted malts, toasted grains, some light smoky notes, and a light sweetness. Pretty good.
