2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
In short: A bland slightly chocolaty watery black dough of some kind.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Black body with a large tan head
In long: Strong aroma of roastiness and coffee. Unfortunately the mouthfeel and taste do not live up to the expectation. Feels very empty with the nitro carbonation being just too much for the frail malt profile. Simply feels like a watered down generic commercial black-cake with some cacao powder, dry grass and lemon skin in the finish. I haven’t experienced Black Magic with such power since that curse spell that makes you button your shirt wrong.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
A deep dark stout with a deep dark creamy moka head. Light chocolate aroma, a bit roasted. In mouth, a rather dry stout, boring and plain. On tap at Empire, Nov. 17 2007.

3.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
good to know they are brewing here again. This beer has a rich character that has very complex tones in the aftertaste

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught 2002: A good dry stout, similar to Guinness. Very smooth from the nitro, flavors of chocolate, nut, bitter coffee, that blend nicely without overpowering. Quite enjoyable fresh on tap, but nothing absolutely amazing for this style.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Nov 2000/Nice and smooth, coffee like bitterness? comparable to Guinness in my opinion, though not quite as smooth on the tongue.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Dark brown, brown, nitro-looking head. Slightly roasty, touches of smoke in the nose. Roasty, thin and dry, very similar to Guinness, which is what I think they were aiming for.

Nice fresh aroma, thick looking almost black in look. Neat creamy head. Roasted coffee. Some extreme flavours are included in this one (can’t described them yet). Big one.
