On tap at the brewpub. Yellow and hazy. Aroma is nutty with clove, light banana. More banana on the palate along with some citrus. Light bodied and refreshing. A solid hefeweizen that is a bit heavy on the banana but overall true to style.

Part of a sampler at brewpub. I found all the brews to be better than average though I don’t remember specifics for most of them. It is worth mentioning that the sampler here is very generous with glasses that are big enough to really give you enough to form an opinion.

FCBF 09. Nice and refreshing. This stood out at the end of the brewfest. The lemon aroma and flavor was very enjoyable.

FCBF 09. I was very pleased to see all the German-styled beers at the festival this year. This was another fine representative of the style. I enjoyed it.

Lubiere (10490) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 7, 2008
A hazy golden weizen with a thin white head. Very pungent banana and lemon aroma, chalky notes and bubblegum. In mouth, a bit lighter than expected, but pleasant, with wheat and bananas. Short in mouth. On tap at brewpub, May 29 2008.

In short: Standard by-the-book Hefe-Weizen
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Cloudy light banana yellow body, medium white head
In long: Fresh bananas, lots of smooth bubbles, medium body with just enough hay to not feel like a “light” beer, light lemony tartness, some floral notes (dandelions mainly). Plesant dry finish. Well-done standard Hefe. Anny more conventional and it would simply be called Hefe-Weizen… oh wait… it is.

Tim Burton gives his facelift on this one. Little lace and amber colour. Significant wheat though sour, too sour. Above average carbonation detracted. Maybe not as fresh as it could be. Quaffable, but not my type of hefe.

Ditto on the prior rater’s comments. Good beer but for me the banana was a little to overpowering to have more than one in a single sitting. Great beer though.

UPDATED: SEP 3, 2007 Again, Empire is now brewing once more, sol its time to remove the retired status. Definate hints of banana in the aroma, pours a cloudy yellow with an average taste.

From 2002: One of their better beers to get fresh, and I think this type of beer benefits in some ways from being fresh. Hazy light golden yellow. Good wheat flavor comes through with lemon, cloves, and tons of banana.
