An old rating which took place at the now closed Bag O’Nails in Bristol. Pale amber with aromas of hay, biscuit malts and a touch of leafy hop. Slightly sweet malts on the flavour with a decent bitter finish. Ok.

I wouldn’t normally rate a beer that was so obviously off but just as a public service to Empire, those cockweasels at Macclesfield Beer Festival want a right good shoeing for selling your beer like this and then saying ’it’s supposed to be like that’. It stunk so bad I hurried away from the bar thinking someone had shit themselves and people would think it was me. It was chasing me through the tent until I realised it was the beer. I’ve been kind with my rating, it should have been a 1 all round. Have a word with twat with a beard, Mike I think. Will re-rate.

Cask, gravity, at 2nd Wellington BF, Wellington Arms, Bedford. Not to be confused with Empire IPA of Syracuse, New York. Dark gold. Strawy, grassy hop aroma and taste. Mid bitter finish. Straightforward but acceptable.
