3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Sammy (6120) - Toronto, - OCT 20, 2007
The buzz of the re-opening of this place was biased toward this amarillo hop beer. It was decent, one of the better ones I tried. It is grapefruit and bitter. Lots of lace. Grapefruit aroma as well. An average IPA. Something in the balance and perhaps the carbonation that could be tilted.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 UDBeernut (465) - Saugerties, New York, USA - FEB 26, 2012
on tap at the brew pub, poured into a cheater pint
a: clear amber color, small 1/4" off white head with good retention, reduces to a cap and lacing rings. Moderatly carbonated
s: pine and citrus, mild caramel, slight biscuit
t: a bitter hop bomb of a beer. Mild sweetness and caramel force its way into the palate. I wish there was more hop flavor to this beer for the high amount of bitterness
m: dry and sticky, I could only handle two beers before mving on.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 hivemind (426) - New York, New York, USA - FEB 5, 2012
Tap @ the brewpub w Ronnee on Feb 3. Pours golden-amber with white head. Piney, hoppy aroma, not very strong. Tastes of piney and citrusy hops with a good amount of grapefruit coming through. Not intensely bitter at all but great hop profile. Ronnee even enjoyed.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 GT2 (3972) - Washington DC, USA - JAN 30, 2012
Growler from Whole Foods Bowery in NYC. Orange amber, clear with rocky foam. Sticky protein lace. Nose is floral, citrusy, easy Centennial or other 3C style American hops. Taste is nutty, citrusy, moderately sticky with full bitterness. Fairly aggressive but a typical, fresher, well done American IPA. No off character.

Super IPA. Hoppy with a slightly sweet flavor to it. Medium bodied and very drinkable.
3.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Slipstream (1552) - USA - OCT 9, 2011
Draft at Whole Foods. Dark amber pour with a thick head. Aroma of piney hops, yeast, and a touch of skank. The taste is very good - loads of sprucey hops that jump out, then back, then re-emerge in the finish. There are malt and menthol notes, along with some warmth. Very good IPA. This was my first from Empire and hopefully not the last. The craft beer scene in New York continues to grow.

Draft. Pours gold with a thin white head. Earthy and spicy hop aroma with pale malty notes. The flavor is relatively well balanced, with pale malts, and spicy, earthy, and floral hops. Not bad.

Orange copper with small off-white head. Citrus and floral hop aroma with some grain background. Medium body, no alcohol. Nice solid bitterness, citrus, grass, and good balance of malt flavors which do not add much sweetness. Not bad, would have it again.

On draught at the 2011 North Fork Beer and Wine Festival. Pours a hazy coppery gold with an off-white head. Pleasant aroma of malt along with grapefruit and pine. The flavor is malt followed by a solid dose of pithy grapefruit and pine. Moderate-strong bitterness at the finish.

A very solid IPA. Hoppy, but not overly so. Citrus-sy, but not overly so. Very refreshing!
