COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dry porter brewed with the addition of pure, local, amber maple syrup from Critz Farms. The syrup was added at the end of the boil so the sugars were fermented. This leaves the beer with the subtle aroma of maple syrup and a hint of sweetness as well.

Very maple syrup. Maple syrup sweet aromas. The taste contains some burnt parts. The mouthfeel is medium, lactose, sugary. Overall a little annoying. Dark colour with off-white head, with lace.

On tap, had this a while ago at the brewpub. Brown with a white head. Lots of malts and a distinct maple aroma. Medium bodied with a decent amount of sweetness. Very solid.

Tap at Governors Island Brewfest. I loved this beer. Poured a light brown with a soft, medium white head. Strong maple aroma, along with nice malts and light caramel. Flavor was very sweet with prevalent maple. Medium in body with average carbonation. I’ve found some maple beers have just hints of the ingredient, but here it was really the centerpoint and, as such, this beer was sweet. Perhaps not what everyone is looking for, but it worked well for me. If you want maple syrup, you want it sweet, right?

Objectively speaking: Sweet result, but very pleasantly integrated maple in an otherwise light-bodied porter.
I like: Fair backing roastiness, though the early sweetness is stronger. Tasty maple in there, well-extracted flavours.
I dislike: Not the most drinkable ale. Frankly too carbonated on top of being very sweet. Rather dull muddy opaque brown. Ultimately simple, but pleasant.
