COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
First beer brewed, appropriately titled to commemorate the reopening. A pale golden bitter with a hoppy aroma and good hop and malt balance, with a fruity citrussy flavour. Very light on the palate and a good session beer.

Cask @ 3 Judges. Hazy golden colour, white head. Nose is slight malty and hoppy, bit of sourness. Flavour is light malted and a bit dusty, citrus, some sourness. Medium bodied.

Cask, The Salmon, Leicester. Golden with an off-white foam. Aromas are toasted malts with yeast and prickly grapefruit. Woody with Burton notes. Flavours are dry and woody with mellow lemon and a peppery dry finish. Grapefruit pith bitterness with some grassiness. Clean and hoppy. Decent.

Cask conditioned at Harbury Beer Fest ’11. Gold with white head. Eggy, farmy nose, pretty sulpherous leading to a gypsum salts character. Drying hops later on, quite leafy, bitterness. It’s ok.

Cask, handpump at The Riverhead Brewery Tap, Marsden, West Yorkshire, 22.04.11 There is quite a lot of ’Burton Snatch’ on this beer. Pour is gold with a white head, its actually to get beyond the sulphurous nose and taste but when you do there is a light fruitiness and reasonable hop presence. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Cask-conditioned at the Hillgrove Porter Stores, Bristol 7/08/10. Golden coloured with a slight white head. Sweet and malty, with a touch of citrus and decent, dry finish. Ok, perhaps overshadowed by the other beers sampled at the same pub festival.

Cask at Cloisters Edinburgh ... Pale amber ... light sweet orangy hop ... little washing up liquid nose ... bitter front ... little pineapple and lemon ... mouthfeel is a bit thin.

A Mes rate: gravicask at The Junction Tavern.
Pale gold with a thin white film. Slightly pungent and nettly hop aroma with some faint citrus and a light hint of egg. Strangely appealing all the same. Lovely fresh hop flavour with plenty of grass and nettles with a nice floral finish. Good supporting malt base throughout. Interesting and plenty of character.

Cask at Coventry Beer Festival 08. Pale gold. Rather rough and oddly meaty aroma. Can that be hops? Citric taste and some bitterness. Fairly ordinary golden. This came at the end of my festival visit after a run of tasty dark beers, so perhaps this assessment isn’t quite fair.

Cask Handpump at the Mill Hotel, Chester 28/03/2006 Citrus aroma. Clear golden coloured hoppy and citrus flavour. Slightly pale and creamy. Crisp on the palate with some bitterness and dryness in a malt finish.
