Two of the world’s oldest beverages join forces to conquer your palate. Victory at Sea embodies the art of masterful brewing by infusing a velvety Imperial Porter with pure vanilla flavor and specially-selected, hand roasted coffee. The addition of cold brewed coffee to the beer lends a subtle roasted flavor to this robust imperial porter, blending perfectly with rich vanilla and caramel undertones. By uniting two San Diego brewing traditions, Caffe Calabria freshly brewed coffee and Ballast Point beer, we have successfully created an artisanal masterpiece.

Pours thick and dark with a small tan head. Nose is intense coffee, wood, light vanilla and grass. Taste is sweet at first but bitter mixes in for a perfect balance taste through to the finish. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. Heavy decadent body with a long aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Yummy beer. Pours a purely opaque, oily black with a thin tan head. The nose is rich, coffee and vanilla notes wafting off the nose with a bit of heat and a light roasted bitterness. Nice and smooth with a huge complex profile.

12 oz bottle to snifter, dark brown mostly opaque pour with thick creamy diminishing tan head with minimal lacing, smells of vanilla and coffee, not overly roasted, good balance as = not too much coffee, texture is not too heavy, tiny but lively carbonation, alcohol comes through, overall I enjoyed on this first colder fall day

Very dark brown with Lacy rimming tan head; aroma is very rich roasty malt hint of coffee; flava is amazingly complex blend of fruit cherry vanilla alcohol licorice then coffee; feels medium slight fizz; finishes dry roasty malty

12oz bottles. I tried this without any idea of how it was being rated here. I’m very surprised at the super-high ratings. It is interesting and a bit novel, but to me the flavors clash. The vanilla is obvious and the coffee is present, but it tastes a bit like a good porter that had vanilla added to it. I recognize the quality of the brewing process that happened here, but to me the flavors don’t come together as well as I had hoped.

Bottle, 65cl. Opaque dark brown with a brown head. Sweet roasted aroma with hints of caramel, coffee, spices. Robust bodied with moderate carbonation. Rich and oily. Sweet but not overly so. Tremendous roasted and spicy character. Exquisite coffee and alcohol finish. One of the most complex and sheerly delicious beers Ive tasted.

Totally over the top porter madness, Victory at Sea is. Inhaling scents of vanilla, coffee and caramel prepares you for both the sweetness and bitterness (though far more of former than latter) and dare I say a bit of numbness from the alcohol content? Poured from a bottle.

Aroma: Clear vanilla and rich roasty malt Appearance: Black colour and crisp creamy head, dark brown Taste: Medium sweet of malts, medium bitter is also there, and very light sour from acid Palate: Medium full body, creamy and oily texture, fizzy carbonation on the acid, and bitter and complex finish of aroma from vanilla and malts

Draught @ Pipes of Scotland, Uppsala. Vanilla clearly present, though not too much (foam gives hint of icecream).

Very dark cola colored beer with a frothy, brown head. Strong aromas of roasted coffee. Tastes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, some hints of raisins, and subtle notes of vanilla. Very earthy with a silky mouth feel. Bitter coffee finish. Some booze in there too. Brutal coffee brew. Tasty.
