When empirical and creative impulses collide, the result is often timeless. The classic utility-art aesthetic of the coffee maker is an example of design and engineering working in concert. It is through similar cooperation that the simple bitter cocoa bean is transformed into a sweet treat. As scientists, our brewers utilize their materials to exacting standards. As artists, they couldn’t resist the temptation to combine the best flavors of two of our highly acclaimed Blackwater Series Imperial Stouts, Jahva and Choklat. Alone each is perfect, but together as Mokah, they are an inimitable expression of two of the world’s most sought after flavors. Enjoy Mokah stout with - or as - your favorite dessert! Cheers!

Coffee beer showdown! I have me 4 coffee beers to compare and contrast tonight. Beer #4. Pours opaque black with a fairly small tan head that collapses after a minute or so. Aroma is deliciously chocalately, which smells very awesome, but I’m not getting any coffee here. Taste is rich chocolate and not much else. If there’s coffee in here, or "mokah," it’s the severely doctored-up sort, what my father-in-law calls candy coffee, filled with so much sweetener that the coffee is neglible. That doesn’t detract from the fact that this is some really tasty shit! This blows the other three coffee beers I rated tonight away by a long shot.

Dark black. Light white head. Aroma is chocolate vanilla. Taste is chocolate more than coffee. A bit syrupy like all the Blackwater. Ok.

UPDATED: SEP 17, 2015 Very deep chocolate aroma and flavor. Almost tootsie roll like. Malty but not super malty for a dark imperial. Full flavored smooth and balanced. Get a bit of an odd bitter finish that is a bit off, but is a solid imperial stout. A notch or two below the top imperials though. NOTE: last night had 8oz of this and 8oz of a 5%abv saison. Have a slight headache, after way little beer last night. Feel like some of the off flavors and lighter palate for how malty this is may be some adjuncts or residual "tails" from a high gravity beer. Not sure if they are trying to make a "top" beer cheaply? But should not feel any impacts from how little I had. Just a note to my future self. Keeping my rating at 3.8, but would be reluctant to have again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Milk chocolate, coffee, malt, and straw aroma. Dark brown with nice tan head. Sweet chocolate milk, malt, and bitter herbal coffee and hay flavor. Nice body. Sweet but not a sugar bomb like the Creme Brulee - excellent.

Black in color with a thick, frothy head that hugs the side of the glass making great lacing. Definetly can smell the chocolate and coffee. Aroma also has some licorice and bready notes. Slick on the palate that leaves a long drawn out finish. A tad bit salty. I like that the coffee is well balanced with the chocolate. There is a faint taste of alcohol which should be expected for a 10% beer. This is warming me up inside on a chilly day . Perfect combanation with the weather.

I guess I should have tried the singleton Jahva and Choklat first. Alas, this one is all-in on aroma and flavor. Almost too much richness. Pours dark, almost black, with thin, tan head. Heavy in both chocolate and coffee aromas, it’s delightful. The flavor is where there’s almost too much going on. I like things simple, so a good imperial stout is my favorite. Adding both choc and java puts this into some kind of different realm, where it’s tasty and all, but getting away from why I love beer. no doubt this one’s for dessert!

Slightly metallic, chocolatey aromas, subtle coffee. Dark brown-black with a mostly fading tan head. Sweet and chocolatey, creamy. Full bodied, very smooth, alcohol is well hidden.

Originally rated on 9/12/14. Deep black body with a brown one-finger head. Really great chocolate and marshmallow aroma. Initial taste has a really strong dark chocolate and cocoa flavor. Full bodied that drinks relatively easy. Coffee flavor is very mild and there’s just a slight bitterness around mid taste. Finishes sweet with a lingering chocolate flavor.

Chocolate, roasted malty aroma. Bitter aftertaste. Espresso sensibility. The booze is faint. Full bodied. Actually rather good, meant for Winter. Definitely for worshippers of dark chocolate.
