This beer is awesome. The aroma is the best part of this beer. I could just smell this one all day. The taste is just about as awesome with a nice dark chocolate and coffee blend. Nice bitter aftertaste but be careful: It would be easy to drink 6 of these real fast! Being that is it over 10%, you might get drunk fast. Do yourself a favor, get this one if you can!!

Pours a near black with a beige head. Aroma of sweet milk chocolate, espresso, roasty malts, and syrup. Smooth and creamy on the palate. Very sweet taste permeating throughout.

Tap flight at Bavarian Lodge. Slick black pour with a dense light brown head that won’t give in. Excellent lacing. Very strong cocoa powder aroma. It actually smells like chocolate syrup! Semi-sweet chocolate and vanilla bean flavor. The roast flavor sort of pales in comparison and whimpers along behind the chocolate. It’s still very good, thipough. Sweet but not sickly. Excellent as a dessert beer but a tasty alcoholic treat all by itself.

Tap. Pours deep, dark brown with average, creamy beige head; short retention and some lacing. Aroma is milk chocolate, espresso, roasted and caramel malt, figs, dates, and faint earthy hops. Flavor is malt dominate with light supporting hops and fruit esters; dry, bitter dark chocolate finish. Full body, medium carbonation, and high warmth.

Bottle @ Haand festival.
Aroma has plenty of coffee, mocha, roasted malts, chocolate and coffee. and plenty of that mocha... (I think this could get me up in the morning, (maybe not))
this is a bit bitter, like coffee...
Semi-thick body, with an average carb.

Originally reviewed: 1/5/10. Split this with a friend. Poured my allotment into a snifter. Poured black as sin, extremely viscous and thick. Capped off by a dark mocha head resting on top. Retention was fair, but it left little-to-no lace. Strong scents of booze, fresh coffee, and chocolate cake. Definitely one of the more sweet-smelling beers I’ve experienced.
Very creamy mouth on this full-bodied beer. This was a sipper for sure. Slight chewy feel at the back end. The booze quality was a bit on the strong side, unfortunately. Strong hot alcohol right away, but as I continue to sip, more of the sweet chocolate comes through. Finishes with a subtle vanilla creaminess that is pleasant. Aftertaste of roasted coffee.
This beer sure hit everything spot on. All of the expected flavors come through in one way or another. I’m glad I split it with a friend though, as I would have struggled to finish the bottle on my own as the "hotness" was a bit strong for me. Still, this would make a great dessert beer.
