4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Goodgrief (1656) - Middletown, USA - SEP 1, 2011
On tap. Opague orange color, it just looks like pulpy mush from some tropical fruit. The aroma was sweet melon and loads of grapefruit. Wow. Citrus and resinous hops about, very complex. This is mouth-puckering hoppy and super thick...like a hoppy milkshake.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 skmikeg (239) - Poway, California, USA - MAY 30, 2012
Pours a amber orange with a small white head. Aroma is of citrus, tropical fruits, pine, and some alcohol notes. Taste is hoppy with a lot of orange, grapefruit, tropical fruits, pine resin, stone fruits, and some warming alcohol Has a medium body with a oily mouthfeel and a dry, slightly boozy finish. overall, a pretty good DIPA that could use a little less boozy notes
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Peacehammer (248) - California, USA - MAY 30, 2012
Bottled 5/16/12, opened on 5/30. Pours hazy orange. Tangerine and grapefruit dominate the nose, a little piney hop bitter aroma as well. Almost no head. Reminds me of hop 15 a bit, but not quite as complex. Easy drinking for the high ABV and hoppyness.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 Thisis12ptfont (179) - Los Angeles, CA, California, USA - MAY 29, 2012
Beautiful, aromatic floral hops with some citrus and fruit notes on the nose. Pours a great orange/gold color with an enormous foamy top. Flavors of strong, exotic hops upfront with a simple and thin oat and malt base. Alcohol is definitely present in the taste. Palate is pleasant, full bodied and slightly thin. Overall, a spectacular IPA with fantastic balance. I give this an A+ rating.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 thome50 (264) - Boringville aka Irvine, California, USA - MAY 28, 2012
Bottle dated 4.12.2012, consumed 5.28.2012. Kept in a refrigerated case until 2 days ago then in my fridge. Thus freshness shouldn’t be crazy bad. Pours a deep orange/golden with frothy head. Aroma is slight hop with mild dankness and then sweet malt. Taste is all over the place. Haven’t had this beer numerous times old this was the freshest I’ve had it and thus rated. Notes of lemon and other citrus with some hop bitterness but then finishing off with loads of heat and malt. Just too boozy and not balanced. 10.5% comes out for sure here. Overall, I need to get this on tap at the party next year to get a 100% certain stance on this beer. Regardless, I’m not buying this one in bottles again. Relabel it a barleywine at this point.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 DalzAle (1461) - Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA - MAY 27, 2012
Bottle. Slightly hazy apricot colored pour, some lacing/carbonation and an aroma of sweet hops. Flavor was hot bitter oranges, dry malt and left and aftertaste of citrus rinds. Good beer, an above average DIPA.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Dorwart (2161) - Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA - MAY 25, 2012
Nice strong bright white head of fine bubbles. Wonderful hoppy aroma full of tangerine and grapefruit. Clear golden orange in color. Wow, loads of resinous hops flavors with lots more grapefruit pith, oranges, pine sap and a bit of nutty biterness. Quite the bitter hop monster that makes the mouth salivate for more. Noticable alcohol presence and warming. Light lingering maltyness that intertwines with the dry herbal bitterness very well. This a a fantastic IIPA and one that is an absolute hop bomb! Excellent!
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 robzilla (77) - - MAY 24, 2012
Pours with a huge lasting head. Nose is citrus and pine. Super bitter and hoppy, pretty over the top. This beer is pretty boozy. I would have enjoyed a more malty backbone. This beer achieved what they were going for, just not my kind of dipa.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 boxofrane (413) - pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 23, 2012
Draft. Pours pale copper with a finger of white head. Aroma its floral to the max. Taste is crazy bitter with no sweetness in the finish. pretty dry.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 keanex (345) - Williamstown, New Jersey, USA - MAY 22, 2012
Poured into a Duvel tulip from a 650ml bottle dated 4/19/2012.
A: Very hazy amber body with a creamy dense light tan head that leaves residue on the side as it shrinks.
S: Mildly bitter tropical aroma of mangoes, banana, pine, and citrus, this smells fantastic. The aroma is complex and thick, definitely a nice touch.
T: Strong bitterness of pine from the start with a resinous lingering hop finish. There’s some alcohol coming through as well as some mild bitter citrus, a semi-sweet malt base keeps the hops somewhat in check.
M: Medium to thick body with a good presence of carbonation to break it up.
O: This is a great beer, definitely for hop lovers. The aroma is fantastic, but the taste is a little bit of a let-down after it. Still this is well worth the price.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 fidelis83 (1354) - Clinton, Iowa, USA - MAY 21, 2012
Bomber labeled Anniversary Ale. Pours a slightly hazy orange with a 3 finger, off white head that has great retention. Aroma is big on citrus, a little pine, some tropical fruit, cereal grain, caramel, some sweet grass, cat box, bready yeast, stone fruit and biscuit. Flavor is more huge citrus, more tropical fruit here than the aroma indicates, some spiciness, toast, stone fruit, light caramel and malty sweetness and a nice tropical fruit and grapefruit finish. Unfortunately the aftertaste turns to a slightly harsh grassy note. Palate is medium bodied, creamy on entry, dry and somewhat slick to the finish and has a fairly light carbonation. Really good overall, but that harsh grassy note seemed to build up on my tongue as I drank, becoming stronger and more unpleasant as I went. This would have scored a good amount higher were it not for that. Reminds me of beers that I have left on dry hops for too long.
