4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 omikr0n (441) - Prague, - OCT 4, 2012Opened to make my 200th rating a bit more special. Bottle. Pours black with lovely brown head that unfortunately disappears quickly. Aroma is chocolate, but also hops, roast and a bit of wood and crust. Flavor is cocoa powder, dark chocolate, bit of malt, bit of hops, bit of wood. It is bitter, but there is not a significant bitterness in the aftertaste. I really like how the cocoa and chocolate are absolutely present in the taste and aroma but do not make it a chocolate beer by any means. Alcohol is not present in the taste, but it warms you nicely going down your throat. Excellent beer!
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 mikedR (413) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - JUN 19, 2013
Super solid, complex stout. Roastiness is abundant, and the aging process complements without ever interfering. Chocolate comes through, too, but there's still plenty of spiciness here. No sweetness, and evens bit dry. Would mind a bit more thickness in mouthfeel. Nevertheless, quite good! A-/B+

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 10/20 COMRADEJOSH (172) - Ft Leonard Wood, Missouri, USA - JUN 16, 2013
There’s a lot of different flavors going on in this beer. I get a smoky bbq from oak with chocolate flavor followed by a spicy heat. This is then followed by an alcohol warmth. Smooth toastiness of a stout but definetly a heavy hitter with the 9.5abv and you feel it.

I love this beer. One of my new favorites. Pouring the beer it is dark black color. As soon as you pop the cap off you can smell the chocolate aroma pouring out of the bottle. You get a strong chocolate taste when you first drink it. The aftertaste you get a string spice and malty taste. Overall I would give this beer a 10 out of 10. I love great divide brewing company. Working at Tipsy’s now. I am glad I can experience these

22oz served into a Duvel tulip Bottled on 3/28/2012
A - Pours blacker than black, completely opaque, a dark frappe head sinks into a clinging collar.
S - Gourmet milk chocolate, whopper candy, very rich and sweet, woody overtones, coffee.
T - A mixture of decadent chocolates, faint wood add a robust and dry balance to the sweet chocolate. Some saltiness seems to be mixed in. The cayenne pepper is flavorless and hits the back of the throat with a perfect bite.
M - Low carbonation, full thick body, ridiculously silky, syrupy,
It’s like desert in a glass! All the components rely on each other for balance.
The best chocolate beer that I’ve had by far.
