COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We toned down the hops a bit to allow cocoa nibs to contribute some pleasing bitterness, while vanilla notes from the oak combine with the cocoa to create an aroma and flavor akin to a gourmet chocolate bar. A dash of cayenne keeps things lively, adding just a bit of heat to the finish. A Yeti for summer? Hell yes.

Opened to make my 200th rating a bit more special. Bottle. Pours black with lovely brown head that unfortunately disappears quickly. Aroma is chocolate, but also hops, roast and a bit of wood and crust. Flavor is cocoa powder, dark chocolate, bit of malt, bit of hops, bit of wood. It is bitter, but there is not a significant bitterness in the aftertaste. I really like how the cocoa and chocolate are absolutely present in the taste and aroma but do not make it a chocolate beer by any means. Alcohol is not present in the taste, but it warms you nicely going down your throat. Excellent beer!

After tasting the oat meal Yeti, this seems as a bit toi bitter, which of course was the meaning by the brewery. Excellent quality and a very good IS but I was expecting mire dark chocolate.

Bottle, thanks Nor! Light boozy chocolate praline and cigar aroma. Black, purple shine, brown lace. Somewhat phenolic and boozy start, tobacco, pepper,a bit harsh, nice dark chocolate aftertaste though. Medium full body, dry mouthfeel. not my favourite

Appearance is black tan creamy head , lots of lace. Very chocolatey aroma sweet bitter malt, rich dark caramel, toasty buiscuit. Hint of booze and some licorice or anise. Little bit of pine with floral fruit. Taste is fairly dry but rich, chocolate, somewhat boozy, dark malts, medium toast, medium malt sweetness, dark fruit, mint, fairly alcoholy in finish, as it warms it gets a bit strong. Taste of finish gets worse as it warms.Little bit of oakyness in this as a woody dryness and pretty big on rich dark cocoa. I like the taste of this but not the finish. Maybe age would change my mind.

Black pour with a two finger, creamy to soapy brown head that has great retention and leaves some pretty nice lacing. Aroma is roast, dark chocolate, oily toasted grain, slightly burnt chocolate chip cookies, roasted nuts and cooked dark fruits. Flavor is milk chocolate, roast, toffee, earth, dried dark fruit, light, fruity and earthy vegetal notes (the cayenne, maybe), a touch of smoke, dry licorice and a hint of husky grain. Heavy body, creamy, oily and syrupy feel, medium carbonation, moderate boozy warmth. Really good stuff overall.

Huge chocolate aroma from freshly opened bottle. Loved that initial aroma. Not as prominent after pouring. Pitch black pour, froathy lasting tan head. Good lacing. Extremely smooth and velvet mouth feel. Thought it was going to be a bit bigger body wise but still very pleasing. Could have used more chocolate. That initial smell had me craving a deep rich chocolate flavor that wasn’t delivered. Drank this as a dessert beer and didn’t quite meet my needs for something sweet. Fairly balanced with a little more bitter than i was looking for. Had an earthly quality to it making it a bit savory imo. A nice chili pepper flavor comes through on the finish though that i appreciated very much. Unique but not something that leaves me wanting another...

Bottled Apr. 2 2014. Pours black with a thin, dark tan head. Aroma has smooth roasted malts, dark chocolate, mild oak, and slight caramel. Taste is balanced. Dark malts, dark chocolate, cacao shells, caramel, and a mildly warm chili aftertaste in the throat. Medium-full body with a low carbonation. Oily/creamy texture with a dry finish. Overall interesting. Dark chocolate, fibery shells, and slight chili.

10oz tulip on tap. Minneapolis. Pours dark black. Brown head. Aroma is heavy in chocolate. Alcohol. A little oaky. Taste is chocolate bitter. A little sweetness underneath. Body is full. Soft carbonation. Velvety mouthfeel. Long finish. Pretty decent. A little one dimensional.
