We toned down the hops a bit to allow cocoa nibs to contribute some pleasing bitterness, while vanilla notes from the oak combine with the cocoa to create an aroma and flavor akin to a gourmet chocolate bar. A dash of cayenne keeps things lively, adding just a bit of heat to the finish. A Yeti for summer? Hell yes.

(From notes 10 Nov, 2012) Bottle. Thick, brown head, settles to a blanket and leaves lacing. Pours pitch black. Malty sweet, chocolate, vanilla aromas; very nice! Flavor is milk chocolate, hops, slight spice burn, hardly any sweetness. Mouthfeel creamy. Finish a spicy burn, hop flavor and bitter.

Overall, the burning finish and chocolatey richness is very nice. The lack of sweetness did not bother me, surprisingly. Interestingly, hops take a peek in the flavor. A different imperial stout, and excellent.

Pours a dark brown to motor oil black with a thick foamy tan head. Thick, rich, and creamy texture. Roasted malt taste but not as much chocolate or oak as I expected. Did not really enjoy this as much as the plain Yeti.

The chocolate is very present with a touch of wood finished. Well balanced and dense bodied. Heats up your throat.

Dark, almost black, with a disappointing thin head. Chocolate, coffee and roasty aromas, though with a too apparent alcohol in the nose. Full bodied, creamy with rich chocolate, coffee and roasty flavors . Heavy bitterness with a slight and refreshing tartness. Rather fizzy for a stout but make this heavy and rich brew even more enjoyable. Long finish with bitter coffee and cocoa tones as the dominating components.

Bottle. Pours black. Aroma and taste are velvety dark chocolate, roasted malts, and a creamy finish.

Pours a dark mahogany brown with fluffy tan head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, and some woody notes. Flavors of bitter chocolate and some astringent chocolate.

Black color, dark beige head. Aroma of cacao, chocolate, dark roasted malt and wood. Taste of chocolate and a slight tingly heat from the cayenne. The sweet malt and robust, bitter cacao creates a very balanced taste with a dark roast finish that lingers on forever. Love it.

On draft in Kittery, ME. Reminded me of cocoa powder -- there’s a rich, chocolate flavor that is pretty pronounced, and there’s also a distinct and pleasant dryness at the end. Much better than the base Yeti.
