COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore...
Up until the 1940’s, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created.
Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

Great beer. Strong notes of banana with hints of creamy alcohol. Dark brown hue with a creamy banana with some yeast on the end. Excellent.

Bottle @ home. Calda.

2007 bottle, cellared since release. Deep burgundy colour, lively head quickly disappears to nothing. Winey aromas, almost port like with the sweetness coming through, sweet malts, raisins, small hints of clove & banana, yeasty, fruit loaf. Taste follows the aromas, sweet, vinous, hint of sourness, leather, spicy, hits of the alcohol are still present, giving a subtle bitterness. Full bodied, sticky, thick textures, surprisingly lively carbonation, going to a bittersweet, long, vinous, tannic finish. This has aged fantastically well, and would be a great after dinner drink in place of a port!!

Wow, flavour packed and it almost covers the alc %. Almost... Any beer that is 12% is going to expect respect. This is a beer that will make the winter months pass. great taste with a warming alc %

Starke Rezenz. Alkoholig. Hätte wohl noch lagern sollen..

Pretty decent brew of semi-sweet taste and mild carbonation. The alcohol is obvious and there are sum rum raising esters of the malt showing through the sip. There is a bit of leathery banana, and a faint presence of bubblegum but extremely innocently present.

My head is all over the place with this beer. Taste and smells extremely strong. Yes, it’s 12% ABV, but it tastes stronger than that. In the aroma is banana and clove, which is also in the flavor. Sweet malts are as well.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with small off-white head. Nice retention. Aroma of bread crust, caramel, raisins, hints of vanilla and clove. Very sweet with medium bitterness in the finish. Some herbal hop aroma. Huge body, high carbonation. Great on a cold, rainy evening. Very good beer.

Liquid is cloudy. Looks very thick. Full body. Medium to heavy sweetness. Smell and aroma of melon.

Surprised this is rated lower than regular Aventinus. Better on draft than from the bottle, but still very good. Wheaty and sweet, hint of bread. I will have it with a pretzel.
