4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
I thought this was absolutely one of the more fantastic example of the style that I have tried in years. The nose is strongly reminiscent of the same yeasty qualities that you get from a traditional hefeweizen, lots of cloves and banana, but than you get a second aroma of sweet candy sugars and caramel maltiness. Very warming on the palate with lots of sweet candied fruits and bubblegum, very full and filling, not a single tastebuds goes unoccupied with pleasure while drinking this one. In a blind testing one would never be able to tell this was an American Beer. Extremely well done.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
had an older 25 ouncer of the weizenbock next to a 12 ouncer of the hefe of the same name (and nearly same label). this is a nice example of a very pleasing style, if a little overpriced. good interplay of yeast (babana, clove, spices), malt, and a touch of hops. good body too, w/a dry finish."

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
$15 for 1L @ Enoteca in Post Falls, ID
Poured from 1L bottle to tulip.
A: Pours a beautiful amber with excellent clarity. Loosely packed 2 finger lid dissipates within one minute.
S: Caramel malt, figs, cinnamon, vanilla come together - not at all what I expected. There are hints of banana and walnuts as well.
T: Creme brulee, hints of graham, nice bread pudding flavors. Much more roasted flavors than I had anticipated. The finish on this sticks to my palate and can easily be felt with 5 minutes under it’s belt.
M: Medium body, fine, fanciful carbonation with a slightly warming finish.
D: Very drinkable beer. Not so good that I wouldn’t share with friends of lesser beer appreciation, but still special. It doesn’t hurt that 1L was only $15! Wish I had a couple more in the cellar for dinners with friends.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
The beer pours decently with a nice hazy amber color that passes through some light, a decent off white head and good lacing on the glass. The smell is decent as the beer has a mild malty, caramel smell with a hint of orange sweetness on the back end. The taste is great and has a lot going on, a blend of sweet orange, mild malt, corriander, cinnamon and a bready finish. The mouthfeel is decent as the beer is well carbonated and leaves you with a mildly sweet, mildly bitter mouth. Overall, a really good weizenbock that I would recommend.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Draught at the Bridge Tap House, St Louis, MO.
Cloudy amber colour with a tiny white head.
Some yeast and alcohol in the aroma.
The flavour is... well it’s bad... I’m sorry to be frank but it’s really bad. Yeast, yeasty bitterness and alcohol. There’s some hoppy bitterness too but it’s shadowed by unpleasant yeasty bitterness... This is not a good Weizenbock.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(bottle - 1 L fliptop - 2009 vintage) Copper pour with a thin tan head. Sweet and malty aroma. Lots of spices mixed in with a very light hop bitterness. Flavor is a bit too sweet for me however. Lots of sweet malts and spice. The bitterness isn’t really there and I could’ve used it.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: FEB 5, 2012 Pours a clear golden color. Aroma hits with yeast and banana and then apples. Flavor is a real rich malty vanilla flavor that gives way to the banana flavors. This is an excelllent beer . Clean finishing. Good carb and just a good solid drinking beer

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at The Bridge, from notes. Pours a cloudy orange with a small white head that leaves some spots of lace in the glass. Aroma of wheat, mixed fruits, especially banana, peppery spices, sweet malts, and some grass. Flavor of tropical fruits, with banana again leading the way, wheat, mild spice, and sweet malts. Medium-bodied, with a malty, fruity mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
2009 bottle pours cloudy dark orange with dense off white head. The smell is mild and mostly malty with a little hint of spice. The taste is different, more spice heavy, clove and cardamom, with a little fruitiness. The wheat makes for a good palate with the carbonation. As it warms the yeast that has aged gets stronger, with some funky banana and bubblegum to go with ASL the other flavors. It was ok over all, not as good as the 2 year sheep eater I had or the double vision doppelbock.
