Our take on the West Coast-style Double India Pale Ale, The Oracle places hop intensity first & foremost, making only the slightest concession to malt & balance. The fireworks start with the floral aromatic punch of two separate dry-hop sessions with Amarillo and NZ Pacific Jade. Resinous, citrusy hop flavors mixed with aggressive bitterness from a massive kettle addition deliver on that aromatic promise.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 8/8/2014. Pours slightly hazy bright orange color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head, with incredible retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of bright citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pinapple, lemon/orange zest, citrus rind, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with a good malt/bitterness balance and minimal cloying bitterness after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a moderately slick/sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent DIPA. All around great complexity and balance of citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; and fairly smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

This one might be getting on in age but still pretty relevant. Big fruity aroma, some herbal/floral aroma. Medium bitterness, grassy hops and a set malt base. Nice

12oz bottle poured into a snifter. The aroma is a bright toffee, tropical, floral citrus blend with an undertones of light woody, alcohol, and burnt molasses; not too similar from a fresh barleywine. It pours a murky pale orange with a white, small suds, filmy head that has good retention and lace. Itís highly bitter with a medium citrus sweet, but the bitterness dampens with warmth. The texture is chewy, sticky, and a bit syrupy with a fuzzy carbonation and a full body. The palate contains a strong grain character with a burnt quality as well as bitter citrus, wax, floral, and a strengthening caramel note late. The finish is initially crisp zippy with a bread crust quality although it loses this edge with warnth and turns smooth and syrupy. Thereís a resinous and waxy, cloying aftertaste with notes of bitter cough medicine and a strong bitter floral; overall itís aftertaste is prominent and lingering. This definitely qualifies as a west coast palate wrecker, and best served at cellar temp.

Cloudy orange yellow pour. Malt and tropical fruit aroma. Lots of carb, pine resin, malt and grapefruit. Bitter finish. Hefty.

Poured from a 12 fl oz. bottle with a bottling date of 10 July 2015. The off-white head is exceptionally creamy, holds up well, and leaves plenty of sticky lacing on the glass. The body is hazy amber-copper. Aroma: Chiefly fruity hops with some faint floral notes but no sign of malt. Misleadingly suggests a sweet and tart flavor. Taste: loads of hops, including citrus, floral and pine notes. Hints of tangerine peel and oranges. Moderate-high bitterness but with some sweetness and without an overload of bitter grapefruit peel in the aftertaste. Overall: excellent example of the DIPA style.

Nose is pine, candied citrus, dried mango, grass. Flavor is same, hitting those grassy notes hard, with some tropical fruit, intense grapefruit rind, burnt sugar. Itís solid, but Iíve gotta say... This was bottled on 7/10 and I got this as soon as it was available in NY. An ipa that just dropped shouldnít be a month and a half old already.

Bottle. Hot damn. This is the best double ipa iíve had in years. Silky smooth. Tropical, citrusy, and only slighty malty but super well balanced. 10%? Youre shitting me. Awssome

Poured from a 12oz bottle with a date of 7/10/15 Very juicy tropical with plenty of carbonation. Same brewery as hop slam. I can see the similarities. This beer has same apv, but much cheaper.

Poured a yellowish color almost orange with aromas of lemons, hops, light malt, and some light sweetness. Flavors are lemon, with hops, and dankness a touch of sweetness, a solid DIPA that I could drink a few back to back of.

Cloudy gold to orange pour with a two finger creamy off white head with a soapy top skim. Aroma is big on fruity, berry-like floral and citrus hops, starfruit, light nutty and cereal malt notes, hint of pale caramel, faint raspberry earthiness and just a hint of booziness and herbal hops. Flavor is loaded with tree fruity esters up front, then some caramel and grape nut malt notes, resinous pine, deep earthy blackberry and raspberry notes, dried grapefruit peel, thistle flower and a very fain medicinal note, not really enough to be overly offensive, but enough to notice. Medium to heavy body, creamy entry, giving way almost immediately to a slightly dry, boozy heat, light but blanketing and harp carbonation and somewhat astringent and chalky finish with a pretty big booziness. Really good stuff overall, but a little sloppy.
