COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our take on the West Coast-style Double India Pale Ale, The Oracle places hop intensity first & foremost, making only the slightest concession to malt & balance. The fireworks start with the floral aromatic punch of two separate dry-hop sessions with Amarillo and NZ Pacific Jade. Resinous, citrusy hop flavors mixed with aggressive bitterness from a massive kettle addition deliver on that aromatic promise.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 8/8/2014. Pours slightly hazy bright orange color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head, with incredible retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of bright citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pinapple, lemon/orange zest, citrus rind, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with a good malt/bitterness balance and minimal cloying bitterness after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a moderately slick/sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent DIPA. All around great complexity and balance of citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; and fairly smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Clear golden with a big off white head. Pine sap, under ripe pineapple, alcohol and grass. Bitter piney, vegetal flavor. Medium body with a fizzy feel.

Bottle into tulip glass, cloudy ambery-golden color with light tan head. Aroma notes of pine, grapefruit, orange and caramel malt. Taste adds intense pine/grapefruity bitterness, citrus, somewhat grassy/herbal, and faint spice. Heavy-medium body, moderate carbonation, very dry, rich with long lingering pine/citrus finish. Itís a simple hop bomb but does it very well.

Pour is a hazy amber with a small white head. Aroma is honeydew melon with some sweet earthy malt. Flavor is pine, earthy malt, melon fruitiness and there is a slight sweetness but not as huge as I thought it would be. There is also a very noticable alcohol which gets bigger as the beer warms. This is a solid old school DIPA. A little malt heavy with some west coast pine/grapefruit hops.

Aromas of mango, pineapple, grapefruit juice, and pine resin. Taste is sweet mangoes, pineapple, sweet dough; then it shifts to bitter grapefruit peel and pine tar.

Bright golden color with a diminishing white head. Aroma contains pine, oranges, grapefeuit. The flavor is bitter but well balanced. Iím getting a ton of oranges and grapefruit. This is a big beer but hides alcohol well. Overall nice stuff.

Aroma is grapefruit, citrus/fruit and a hint of metallic. The flavor is citrus/fruit, grapefruit, biscuit malts, slightly funky hop resin, sugar/candy and an alcoholic/bitter/slightly sour finish.

Heavy pineapple in the aroma, mango, peach with pine hops showing through in the background. Dark yellow/bronze with a long lasting bright white head. Has way more balance than the description suggests. Starts with honey tropical fruit sweetness, then an onslaught of sharp hops. Aftertaste is dank and earthy. Slight alcohol presence. Highly carbonated but not watery. This is almost as good as Hopslam.

Bellís Oracle Double IPA doesnít have quite the complexity or polish of some of the best extreme IPAís... such as RuinTen or The Waldos... but I have to go to that level to find something to compare this beer to. Make no mistake, The Oracle is really outstanding. It pours hazy orange without much foam, the aroma is some sweet notes, honey and candied pineapple, and big, boozy, strong hops. The flavor is dense and strong and very bitter. Sledgehammer pine and citrus hops atop some caramel and a little vapor that belays the 10% ABV. Very heavy mouthfeel. This is big boy beer, and I love it.

Aroma of citrus, sweetness, and malt. Even smells a little boozy once warms up. Taste is a huge- piney, bitter, and malt heavy. This is a pretty boozy beer once it warms. The bitterness lingers. Heavy, thick mouthfeel. Like Ruinten but maltier. A real sipper. To much for me. WBA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
