Bottle. Pours black with a small brown head. Aroma is heavy and complex; fat, malty, vanilla, dark fruits, fudge, molasses. A bit cloying, but very nice. Flavour is sweet! Fat, roasted, dark fruits, tangy, pepper, chocolate and molasses. Finish is more of the same with an added note of sweet Finnish liquorice and an alcohol burn lingering. Carbonation is great: prickly in just the right way against the heavy body. Overall a great beer; complex and very well-balanced, even if very sweet and somewhat cloying. 30.03.12.

Bottle shared by Dwayne at craft ale house. Pours pitch black with almost no head to speak of. The aroma is loaded with dark chocolate, milk chocolate, molasses, dark fruit, alcohol. The taste has a load of dark fruit, big chocolate covered cherry, tons of chocolate and obviously a bit of heat. Amazing brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This was really boozy. Booziness aside, it had a great flavor. Do not drink this one alone.

Well, this is how I like my impís. Thick, black, sweet. A little of vanilla and some booze that gets trough but not to overwhelming after all.

Bottled. Pours deep brown neraly black with an average, lacing tan head. , Aroma of port wine, dark fruit, vanilla and bourbon. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry, slightly bitter bitter and with alcohol too. Medium to full bodied, oily to syrupy texture and soft to flat carbonation. A great Impy indeed. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Bottle share at CBC Clerkenwell. Big thanks to Padraig for this one. Thick pour. Black, small bubbly brown head. Aroma is very sweet with molasses, marmitey yeast / bovril, liquorice. Body is medium to full, smooth, no real carbonation. Taste is molasses, sweet and sugary, more of that yeasty marmite, tangy booze. The bourbon is taking a back-seat to the sweet molasses vibe. Like a lot of Bruery beers, itís unapologetically huge, boozy and sweet. On the hedonistic Ratebeer rating system, I should really be giving this less than 3.0 as itís more of a chore than a pleasure ... but then it has some novelty value. Grateful for the opportunity to try it.

Waxed, capped 750 from Marcus. Pours very dark brn/blk with dark bubbles. Alcohol aroma with chocolate, dark fruits, old wood. Fruit must be eclipsing the malt. Full bodied to the extreme. Flavor is alcohol, very plummy, chocolate, vanilla, old wood, oxidation notes. Letís add very dark treacle. Maybe coffee, maybe not. The alcohol is somewhat dominating the conversation. I like the pluminess part a lot.
