UPDATED: JAN 21, 2013 The pour is black with little head. The aroma is mostly that of sweetness. The taste is full bodied, and has a lot of heat (rememberf this is a í12 bottle). Seems like age would do this beast well. But at the same time it is a damn tasty beer right off the back. The middle of the drink you get a lot of heat that follows it throughout the rest of the drink. A decent amount of sweetness, that is why I could understand that some people may not get it. The alcohol is somewhat hidden because there is so much going on. A lot of prunes and dark fruit in the taste for sure. A mild vanilla. Overall a solid beer.

On tap at the source. Pours dark brown to black. Super nice. Lots of dark fruits. Some hazelnuts really smooth. Some alcohol burn. Really great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Thanks aaron for this whale. Lotís going on with this beer. No.1 itís extremely rich. Chocolate, malts, bourbon, etc. Smell is big barrel age bourbon coming through, chocolate, roasted malts, and vanilla. Taste is similar. Bourbon and alcohol are noticeable. Not your mom and pop beer. Iím sweating while drinking. Big beer, for big beer nerds. Not my style, but i can accept the artisan that put this shit together. Itís good, would i seek out again - absolutely not.

Black pour. Tan head. Coffee aroma, French roast flavor. Thick pour. Some burnt roast and some concentrated plum and licorice. Finishes bitter roast.

7.11.2014. Very intense aroma, bourbon like vanilla sweetness, raisin, cacao. Taste is very sweet, vanilla, fruits, berries, rather complex. Low carbs. Very smooth and taste. But extremely sweet, 1dl portion is ok. Portwine like.

Bottle, Boise imperial stout tasting, thanks syndicate for sharing! Dark brown pour, thick and syrupy, minimal brown head. Nose is sweet; vanilla and chocolate, oak, and booze. Smooth and rich flavor of vanilla, cocoa, bourbon. Like Chocolate Rain itís boozy, but not in a bad way. This is smoother and more refined; the layers of flavor seem deeper... I donít really know how to feel about this as itís super sweet and over the top, but this is just rad.

Pours murky brown with thin tan head. Smell is bourbon, coffee and brandy.. Taste is fruit, bourbon and prune. Heavy body, heavy carb. You will need someone to help drink the bottle, boozy and its a slow sipper.

750ml bottle pours a dark browny red color. Surprising carbonation for being such high ABV. Lots of burnt toffee. Nice subtle bourbon. Tasting of 2013 and 2014 side by side. Smoother with a year of aging in bottle. Some alcohol harshness but not as much as I've heard in reviews.

Waxed, capped 750 from Marcus. Pours very dark brn/blk with dark bubbles. Alcohol aroma with chocolate, dark fruits, old wood. Fruit must be eclipsing the malt. Full bodied to the extreme. Flavor is alcohol, very plummy, chocolate, vanilla, old wood, oxidation notes. Letís add very dark treacle. Maybe coffee, maybe not. The alcohol is somewhat dominating the conversation. I like the pluminess part a lot.

2013 Bottle: I enjoyed this at the annual Stout tasting in Boise hosted by some Beer Advocate guys (gasp) where they allow some rating whores in from ratebeer. Anyway, sweet sweet sweet. Earthy notes with licorice and a thick body. Quite enjoyable.
