UPDATED: JAN 21, 2013 The pour is black with little head. The aroma is mostly that of sweetness. The taste is full bodied, and has a lot of heat (rememberf this is a ’12 bottle). Seems like age would do this beast well. But at the same time it is a damn tasty beer right off the back. The middle of the drink you get a lot of heat that follows it throughout the rest of the drink. A decent amount of sweetness, that is why I could understand that some people may not get it. The alcohol is somewhat hidden because there is so much going on. A lot of prunes and dark fruit in the taste for sure. A mild vanilla. Overall a solid beer.

My Bottom Line:
Molasses, chocolate and plenty of caramelized sugars merge in this heavy, warming Imperial Stout.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam tops the darkness.
-Mouthfeel remains velvety despite the intensity.
-Alcohol is obviously important in the flavor profile and body.
-This is quite reminiscent of DFH’s World Wide Stout.
-This was aged nearly 6 years before opening, and as such allowed us to taste a properly smoothened version. Even though it’s an extreme brew, time seems to have made it more approachable.

From a 2010 bottle, tasted in 2016.

Type: 750-ml bottle (25.4 oz.) Glass: AleSmith Barrel-Aged Reserve snifter glass From: The Bruery in Placentia, Calif. Price: $25.99 Purchased: N/A; Received on Nov. 8, 2015 Consumed: June 10, 2016 Misc.: Bottled on Aug. 25, 2015; 2015 version (19.9 pct. ABV) To say that I was excited to have this was the understatement of the century. I can’t think of a beer I’ve wanted to try more than Black Tuesday. A big thanks to Chris for letting my buy one of his bottles. This is going to be good. Poured a black color with two fingers of fizzy tan head. Serene setting underneath. Decent spotty lacing. Decent retention. (Sight - 3.50) Smelled sugary milk chocolate, smooth bourbon, toffee, caramel, dry cocoa, chocolate syrup, crayon, licorice, hints of molasses, figs, dark raisins and dark plum. Got boozier each whiff. (Smell - 4.50) First taste was just awesome, definitely warming all the way down to my gut. Got sugary chocolate syrup, milk chocolate, rich caramel, creamy toffee, smooth bourbon, molasses, black licorice, creamy espresso vanilla and light woody oak. Huge warmth in my throat. Drinks like a port dessert wine or some other complex red wine. This is warm, but not super hot. Definitely drinkable. Amazing. (Taste - 4.75) Full body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, surprisingly smooth finish. Perfect. (Feel - 5.00) This was just incredible. Might be my favorite beer ever, knowing that Pliny the Elder and Younger might come down a tad once I rate them again. (Overall - 4.75) 4.64 100 A+

Bottle from trade with Michael (misterburd) -- thanks a ton, buddy! 2015 vintage (19.9%) The label says "Contains Alcohol" front and center, and boy do they mean it. This is so boozy that you can smell the alcohol burn as soon as it gets within 5 feet of you, but there’s so much flavor that it doesn’t taste especially hot. Tons of chocolate and coffee flavor, like a double version of the biggest imperial stout you’ve ever tried, mixed with a strong bourbon flavor that pairs really well with the alcohol warmth. Fantastic beer.

Wajoo 19%. Zwart, geen schuim. Erg alcoholisch in geur en smaak, maar wel op een lekkere manier.

Bottle, shared with ktwse and kryon79 at Himmeriget. Pours an intense black with no head. Swirling it around leaves oily black lacings on the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, molasses, marinated raisins, vanilla, bourbon, oak, leather. Taste is dark chocolate bitterness meets caramel sweetness and a pleasant alcohol burn towards the end. Mouthfeel is very smooth and velvety with almost no carbonation

2014 reserve. Pours black with low tan head. Aroma of booze, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate... I want to make love to this beer... Taste is fiery rich bourbon, tons of alcohol, super sweet. This one can probably sit for 50 years... Body is rich and creamy with soft carbonation. Warming alcohol finish that lingers until the cows come home...

Decadent over the top Imperial Stout the reason the BRUERY is the king of high ABV decadent beers.
