Pours black and Thick with a small brown head. Nose is intense vanilla, chocolate, wood, molasses and big
Booze. Taste is sweet and with little bitter yet it's enough to make this beer amazing. Mouthfeel is amazing. Soft and lily. Coats the mouth amazingly. Silky smooth. Body is heavy and finish is huge.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
At a tasting, thanks DSG, no head, opaque very dark brown colour, strong but not overpowering aroma of bourbon and vanila with plums, dark cherries and a hint of charred wood. flavour of dried fruit compote, dark bittersweet chocolate and cherry liquor, syrupy slick texture, alcohol quite strong at first but mellowing as the beer warms up, very very sweet but not cloying, the bourbon character altough strong blends in and mellows in time. Very nice to lay back and sip.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
I split a 750ml bottle with five friends. I poured my share into a snifter. It was bottled on 9/18/13 and sent to me in a trade (thanks, Christopher!).
Appearance: Dark brown proper hue, slightly black with ruby red highlights. Pours to a miniscule, beige, soapy head which almost completely dissipates and leaves no lacing.
Smell: Strong aroma of sweet vanilla and bourbon, though not boozy per se.
Taste: At 18.9% ABV, Black Tuesday is a big beer to say the least and its reputation definitely precedes it. Iíve had extreme beers before, but this one doesnít seem to be as over-the-top as others of the genre. Itís sweet and robust, obviously, but itís not all that complex. The palette is a little repetitive with a constant combination of vanilla and bourbon. Thatís okay, because those flavors are quite delectable.
Right away, the vanilla from the barrel aging makes itself known. Intense, confectionery sweetness akin to vanilla extract dominates this palette. Through the middle thereís some minor notes of sour grape, dark cherry along with additional sweetness of caramel and peanut brittle (or some kind of nutty/earthy character). Since the beer is bottle well after a year it was brewed, itís not surprising that the hops have dropped out. Itís a bit disappointing because the malt character is so rich combined with the alcohol, that itís quite cloying an unbalanced. Still, this beer tastes great and is more than satisfying in a small pour.
Drinkability: When a beer is as heavy as 18.9% ABV you brace yourself for impact. Though I was pleasantly surprised that Black Tuesday was not a hot mess, and that the alcohol was well-masked by the base brew. Thereís definite warmth throughout, but itís not distracting. Though I found it burned my sinuses on the first swig or two. The mouthfeel itself is soft, but does not have a slick or sticky texture. Itís comfortable and smooth, and finishes relatively clean with just a slight dry sensation from the alcohol. Best enjoyed as a standalone beverage for special occasions shared with friends.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle, shared by AirForceHops at RBNEG. Poured into a wine glass. Pours black as possibly can be with zero head. Light, none shall pass. Huge aroma of chocolate malt, vanilla, wood, soy sauce and a distracting vodka scent. Incredible mix of flavor including chocolate, coffee, dark chocolate covered cherries, vanilla, oak barrel and alcohol. Full bodied with no carbonation. Would be silky smooth on the tongue, but itís just to hot. A couple of years in the cellar would take this from Billy Corgan screaming " in spite of my rage, I am still just a rat in a cage" to Andy Williams crooning Moonriver. This beer would have been perfect at 11 to 12%. A big thanks to AirForceHops for bringing this.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: APR 17, 2014 Bottle shared at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Thanks troganmi for this bottle! Bottled 9/18/13, 18.9%. Black, not completely opaque, with a bit of brown foam that dissipates quickly and leaves only a thin film. Aroma is kinda alcoholic with bourbon, chocolate, lots of vanilla, lots of wood and dark fruits. Flavor is full of chocolate, bourbon, wood, vanilla, a bit of coffee, some dark fruits and some liqueur-like alcohol feel. Full-bodied, chewy, syrupy and a bit boozy. The alcohol feel mellows out after a few minutes in the glass. Great stuff, especially for this strength (donít normally like super strong beers).
