Pours black and Thick with a small brown head. Nose is intense vanilla, chocolate, wood, molasses and big Booze. Taste is sweet and with little bitter yet it's enough to make this beer amazing. Mouthfeel is amazing. Soft and lily. Coats the mouth amazingly. Silky smooth. Body is heavy and finish is huge. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2013 vintage. Needed to wait to rate this brew until a bottle I had sat awhile. I sampled this fresh and the booze was overwhelming. Even now it still is rather hot but much more drinkable. Aroma is wonderful, mix of dark fruits (raisins, dates), burnt oak, slight bourbon and Hersey’s chocolate syrup.

The body is full and has a Hersey’s syrup texture giving a sticky texture with lingering oak after the sip. The flavor is still has a hot presence of booze but not nearly as bad as the first time I sampled it in Waterbury, VT @ RBNG (3-15-2013). .... Slight bourbon, mild vanilla, mild cocoa powder and of course layers of chocolate. Still shows a rather large alcohol presence however, it does provide a nice warming sensation after the sip. After finishing a snifter of this I realize that it’s going to take me awhile to finish the bottle. No worries because for me it is a nice Christmas gift to myself. And I don’t feel guilty drinking it myself.

2012 Vintage bottle. Aroma is chocolate and bourbon. Lighter roast notes with light oak and hints of dark fruit. Slight leather note as well. Barrels also add hints of vanilla and coconut. Some alcohol spice. Aroma definitely lets you know this is a big beer! Pours black with a small, moderately thick, dark mocha head that quickly recedes to a small island in the middle of the glass. No lacing and sheets of alcohol. Flavor is fairly sweet chocolate notes that quickly get washed away by bourbon. Medium light roast notes with hints of dark fruit and oxidation. Light oak notes contribute vanilla and coconut. As it warms the chocolate is more prevalent as is a nice barrel note similar to coconut. Medium bitterness. Lingering notes of chocolate, sugar and bourbon. Medium alcohol in the finish. Mouthfeel is full bodied with medium carbonation. Low, but present astringency and medium alcohol warmth. Overall, a really nice and under rated GIANT stout. So much bourbon, malt and oak notes. Alcohol heat is noticeable but not overpowering.

Bottle to glass. Pours a deep brown to black with less than a thin rim of medium brown head. Aroma is boozy, bourbon, vanilla, strong roasted malts. Flavor is strong, huge bourbon, roasted malts, light chocolate and vanilla. Medium to heavy body, but relatively thin given the huge abv. Delicious!

Poured from a 750 ml bottle at the Kickstarter party at the Humboldt Cider Company to help them complete their tasting room. Pours black with no visible head. Nose of dark ripe fruit, chocolate, bourbon, and vanilla. Bold heavy body and a rich mouth feel. Some alcohol shows. . Flavor is rich and shows the same ripe fruit, chocolate, bourbon, and vanilla that was in the aroma. Finish is somewhat alcoholic but does not spoil the beer. Remarkable stuff.

Bottle from the bruery.com pours oil black with slight brown head. Big roasted taste. With some booze but not as much as you would expect being 19.7%
